We had an old kitty with renal failure and did weekly IV fluids for over a year. It gave her (and us) many more good days together than we would have otherwise had.
Generally we name our cats people names for some reason. The current names:
Gwinnie, Garvey, Abbie, Ozzie, and Wally
Lada has the right feel for her. Or maybe Moskvitch.

I had a cat named Poster Nutbag.
Dragging this thread back from the depth 'cause we finally have closure.
The boy, the smoke/tuxedo in the pic is Angus. The grey girl is Isetta.
Gus and Izzy for short. And a nod to a good song by excellent Canadian band Sloan "Iggy and Angus"

All your basin are belong to us.
The grey looks like a cat I had in grade school named Grab Ass. His brother, all black was named Clutch Butt. They were named this by my father because they constantly chased each other through the house raising hell. At Christmas one year they tore half the presents open while playing under the tree.
We have had an Enzo, Austin, and Veyron.

I've always wanted to do the Simpsons thing: get an all black cat and name it 'snowball'.
The older one we adopted is all black, the rescue had already named him Snowflake. Apparently as a kitten he had a few white patches, but they are all gone now.

Congrats on the new furballs.
One of my old siamese needed daily hydration in his last year. He was a fragile little old thing, and a few friends suggested I have him put down. But he was eating (soft food mixed with water) and loved nothing better than spending the day in my lap while I worked. You had to put your ear right on his chest to hear him purr and he could no longer meow - but he seemed happy so I ignored the suggestions. He lived until he was 20. Good old Datsun.

So true. We were hydrating Trix 100cc every other day for about 8 or 9 months then daily the last few. She did really well and her decline from that steady state was pretty quick. We knew when it was time, and when the in-home vet came to perform the euthanasia it was about a day into her not being happy.
The new pair are are great though. Never will be a replacement, but life is just better w/ cats.
