Best all-seasons for the family hauler.

I need to replace the tires on the wife's town and country. any suggestions?

size is 215/65R16

Best in what category? Wear? Grip? Cost?

I'm personally a fan of Michelins, so that's what most of our cars tend to wear.

I like long wear. It's a minivan that doesn't get driven aggressively at all. Needs to have decent snow traction. Can it be kept under $250 for a pair?

Easy. Michelin Defender's are about $120 each from Tire Rack. You want a good, long lasting tire for the family hauler? Michelin is the choice that can't be beat.

I am absolutely in love with my Continental DWSs, but I don't think you'll find them for $125 each. They are the best all-around 4-season tire I've ever had.

I don't buy Michelins very often, but every time I do, they're still on the car when I sell it.

I recently bought a set of Michelin Defenders for our RAV4 when I had similar requirements. They were more than the $250/pr, though - but you have a smaller tire size.

The set we had on it before that were Cooper CS-4s, and I got 70k out of them. They were a little cheaper than the Michelins, wore evenly, and overall I was very happy with them.

I just looked at lots of tires in I think the same size for my aunt. The Continental DWS is not available in that size. The Michelin Primacy MXV4 tested well on TireRack and is what I recommended she get.

The Genral RT43 looks promising.

I run cooper or their knock off Mastercraft brand tire almost exclusively on swmbo's cars. I always get plenty of miles out of them, especially for the price, and have never had a problem with grip.

I have heard of a lot of issues with these tires. Where I used to work, we strongly discouraged these tires and two local INDY shops outright refuse to install them. Even with a road force balancer, they develop an imbalance over time.

We've been running them on a bunch of different Acura's with no issues. I've to date sold close to 400 DWS's and have had one issue so far. They're a fine tire for hte money, but they're not available in the OP's size, so it doesn't really matter.

Any shop refusing to install them is downright idiotic. There's nothing different from these or any other tire. All tires will need to be rebalanced over time.

I've got to replace the tires on the wife's Sedona in a few weeks, and those are 225/70R16. Since I've been happy with the Continentals on my elantra I'm looking at the Continental LX20.

While doing my research I found the tire rack reviews rate the Bridgestone Dueler HL422 better for snow. I may go this route since the van is used as a tow vehicle for the snowmobiles so the extra snow traction is important to me, but the slight difference may not be as critical for you.

The Continental may squeak in under your price limit, but the Bridgestone would be over.

Truth.

I roadforce and high speed balance all kinds of tires and have no problems with DWS tires.

Michelin Primacy tires are a great tire to get into Michelins for a decent price. The new AS3 tires are awesome but a bit pricey and I doubt they are in your size. we don't do many vans at my shop but when we do its Primacy or Nexen.

I hear good things about the Hankook H727, its only T rated but the carcass is allegedly built like an H rated tire. Gets good reviews on TR, especially in winter.

Hmmm, my opinion is based on 50K miles of experience with them on my own vehicle rather than what I might have heard from a tire dealer who could be trying to sell a different product.

I put a set of Michelin Primacy MXV4 on our e320 benz about 2k ago, and they have been outstanding. Ride quality is much improved, as well as interior noise. They're sposed to last forever too. Kind of pricey, but they transformed our car.

I've got DWSs on my wife's TSX and DWs on my 325i. Both sets are several years / thousands of miles old. Both are smooth as glass, grippy under nearly all conditions, and quiet, at any speed on any road I've ever driven. I wouldn't hesitate to put them on any of the rest of my cars. In fact, I wish the Dunlop Sports I put on the van were much closer to being worn out, because I'd love to ditch them for DWSs.

Though I agree, this is irrelevant since they don't fit the OP's car.
