I told my son we were going to have a yard sale, he said great. He wanted to clear out his storage container and would bring stuff by for us to sell. Important note- both my wife and I have a bad case of flu. He showed up at 8:00 last night with a 26' moving truck. Unloaded into my car port. FILLED IT! We can't even get in to see what is there. All good high end stuff, but needs to be sorted out, reassembled, etc. Some gift.

Furniture, designer stuff. A trundle bed, dressers, kids clothes, glass top tables and a lot of crap. He downsized from a 4000' house to his girlfriends condo, put all his stuff into storage, wanted to stop paying for storage. Some really nice, but soooo much we can't begin to do an inventory. And we both are running a fever with no ambition at all. Argghh.
Make him come over and price it and "work the sale."

Or call AmVets to pick it all up
Put off the sale until you're feeling better.

Already advertised the sale. I will ask for his assistance. Most of the charity places are quite picky about what they will take. One is coming by today to "Take a look". Really wish we were feeling better- right now I am a 200# pile of steaming crap.

So...
Beggars CAN be choosers?
When my mom passed, I tried donating her furniture to one of the local charity resale places. They asked for receipts to show that the upholstery had been cleaned before they would take it and then they would want to pick and chose what they took.
It all went to the dump.

They have limited showroom space, and hauling stuff isn't free. If you're not picky then everyone uses you as a free trash-hauling service, and that's not really what those donor funds are for.
Put up a big sign that says "Make offer on unmarked items"
People will knock each other down to crawl through a giant pile of reasonably nice stuff with the hopw of finding a treasure.
If your son doesn't care enough to price it himself, triple whatever anyone offers (because they know they're lowballing) and then meet in the middle. Take whatever you can get because otherwise you'll pay to haul it off.

That sounds like a winning idea right there.
"Everything's a dollar!"
And really, I'd have little trouble hawking it that way, especially if he's expecting you to do all the selling work.

Wife had a "charity" place come by. They wanted 400.00 to take it. Don't think so. Listed on Craig's list, free stuff. MANY responses so far. This is going to be interesting. Wish I could keep some of it, but we need to downsize.

There is a Salvation Army store across the street from my shop. They have a drop off area on the side of the building, and it's there that I get to witness two most deplorable behaviors- One, dropping off your junk. (I once was walking past, and saw a used deep fryer, still full of old cooking oil.) Second, later in the evening or early morning, people tearing all the bags open and spreading everything around, taking only the good stuff.
They take a 18 foot box truck to the dump a couple of times a week.

Interesting. Had a young couple come by. His father had just moved here from Missouri. They said they would take everything. But they only had an S10. Loaded it up, said they would be right back. While they were here, a young "lady" showed up and was FURIUOS that the table she wanted was spoken for. Started to really carry on. I got in front of her and asked her to leave. Then she yelled that I was a racist, said " berkeley YOU' as she left. I honestly was amused. Hey, it's Craig's List, first come, first serve. Racist? The couple that were taking the stuff were true Caucasian, so are we. She might be Latin, but I certainly do not discriminate. Entertaining. The father will be happy. Chuck is happy. End of story.
Around here just put it next to the street with a "best offer" sign on it and it will disappear. Quickly.
