Once upon a time I had a special Gel Coat polish for taking care of my boat, but I've used it up and can't find anything like it anywhere.

I would like to spiff up the boat before selling so I was wondering what you guys use.

I bought some Meguirs special wash & wax but haven't used it yet.

The hull is not in bad shape nor is it hazed over. The boat has always been in covered parking or in a shed so it's in good shape, but I want to make it really sparkle to help it sell.

Gelcoat buffs up like single stage enamel - it's relatively soft.

Is it chalky or just dull? If chalky you need to cut back to clean, unoxidized material then polish down to get the shine. Typically I'd use meguiers heavy cut on a wool bonnet in a big, variable speed buffer - not a random orbit. Cut the whole thing back, be careful on edges and corners that you don't blow through the gel down to the fiberglass. Wash the whole thing, then repeat with medium on a red foam pad, wash, final cut with swirl remover on a soft foam waffle pad. Follow up w/ wax. As soon as the ground under the boat is dry, take the pictures for the ad.

See: Shine your boat!

I would wash it and if it didnt look good enough at that point, then rub it down with a carnauba cleaner wax

I'd hoped to work on it for most of the day, but didn't get even one moment.

It's just been stored for a while and has a slightly dull look to it. Hopefully the good wash with the Meguires stuff will do the trick.
