New meteorological term for a gigantic blizzard. If you live in the Northeast be prepared. It's coming tonight.

Bombogenesis sounds like an early 1990's video game console.
It's already snowing here in southeastern MA.
After the snow we got Saturday, we didn't bother shoveling and just drove out of our driveway through it. Snow tires are a wonderful thing.
Not sure that will work with this newest storm though, especially if we really get 3 feet......
Who wants to come plow my driveway?!

We know how to drive in New England. We drive like shiny happy people mostly, but we can handle some slippery stuff.
I left work in Cambridge at 3:30. It's currently 5:30, and I'm attempting to exit rt 95 onto rt 3. That's about 20 miles. Apparently everyone left early to beat the storm...

You're thinking of Atlanta or someplace else in the South.
Sure, there are accidents up here, but generally New Englanders have a bit of a grasp of how to drive in the snow.
I’m one of the few lucky people who still has to go to work tomorrow morning. This should be interesting.

Sounds like fun! Lots of my coworkers got to spend the night in a hotel. Lab has to operate tomorrow. Fortunately I didn't get picked for that little assignment.
Lucky for me the majority of the storm is hitting on my off day. Got plenty of heating oil, plenty of snacks, and plenty of whiskey!
(I'm NOT looking forward to the shoveling, though...)

Ha! You should post the letter from the Governor saying you HAVE to go to work tomorrow.
In reply to SyntheticBlinkerFluid:
If I were at work I'd have one. The wife and I get to fall under the essential personnel heading. The wife's hospital has called a couple times to see if she was going to come home or force one of the other girls to stay. She decided if its bad enough that neither of them can make it they will function without a payroll department for the day but she wasn't flying home from vacation to be there.
Just went out to get a gallon of milk at the local convenience store because the wife and kids decided to make chocolate chip cookies. Roads are bad even with 4 wheel drive. The girl at the store is stuck there until midnight. Its her first week on the job and she lives 30 miles away. No way she is going to make it home in her 2 wheel drive SUV, so I drove over to the fire station and made sure they had a cot for her to sleep on.
This is going to be a good one. They are saying it will in the top five all time worst storms here in the Boston area.
Finished a unplanned referb/rebuild to the snow lower at 4:00 today. Got the generator all set up ready to go. Got a 9000 watt unit hardwired in so I will have power if things get bad.
I called my employees Sunday night and told them all to not bother showing up to work until Thursday at the earliest. Nothing we have going on is critical and I would rather they take Monday to prepare for the storm. Kind if sappy maybe but they have families and young children and I want to give them the time to do what they need to do to make sure there families are safe.
I am looking at 36 inch's of snow on the ground and we still have 12-16 hours of snow to go. Weather man just said we have snow through 1:00 Wednesday morning. With blizzard conditions for tge next four or five hours. The snow is up to the bottom of the mailbox. That is at 36 inches and the plow has not come by yet.
The only good part is that the wind seems to be lass of a factor than predicted. So damage is less. The bad is that this means the bands of snow are moving slower so the accumulation is going up.
RI has been shut down since midnight. The Governor declared a state of emergency and imposed a travel ban. No non-essential vehicles allowed on the roads. I haven't seen any activity on the road in front of my house since I got up, not even a plow. And I'm on a main road. Hard to tell how much snow is out there in my area because of drifting, but the local weather reporters are saying between 12" and 20" so far in RI with 3-4 foot drifts. Wind is gusting around 40 mph but higher right on the coast. Southeastern MA is probably getting hit the worst. And it's supposed to continue like this all day.
