I think most 22wmrs have problems because it's such a thin long cartridge.
Rimfire autos in general are super pissy about ammo too, try as many different ones as you can find

Thanks guys. I'll clean and lube things up liberally and give her another run with the ammo I have now. I'll source some more (I hope) and head back to the range.
Dang it. It's been two years since I pulled the trigger on anything hotter than a cordless drill, and now you guys have gone and made me have impure thoughts. Better check Armslist just to verify that nothing I want is available so I can get back to car, house, kid, etc stuff.
Glad to see at least a token Mini 14 reference here. I have a stainless 580 that has responded very nicely to a few sensible tweaks.
Feeding problems are often magazine related. You can adjust the angle of the cartridge in the magazine by adjusting the feed lips. Slightly more open on the forward edge of the mag will angle the round up more, squeezing them in levels the cartridge out flatter. Put a round in the mag and look from the side (safety first here!) at the angle of it. If the round hits the top of the chamber narrow the lips, if it hits the ramp straight on open them on the front.
Hard to describe, easy to do at the range
I had problems yesterday with two separate magazines both made by Ruger as Magnum Research uses their magazine for this rifle. I'm guessing by feed lips you mean the stamped stainless steel sheet metal features that retain the rounds in the magazine.

Yes. There are how-tos on the YouTubes and can change your whole outlook on gun malfunctions

It looks like they cut off the firing pin. Ask for 1/2 off because it is non-functional.

Looks like that gun is a copy or adaptation of the 10/22 design. Ruger discontinued the 22 mag version of the 10/22 due to similar issues getting them to cycle and feed reliably.
you'll likely have to try a bunch of different types to find one that works and then stock up. Not the easiest thing in the current environment.

I'm still a fan of the .303. One in .308 would be cool to have also, though.
I'm not saying the .303 is bad in any way shape or form, but I've already got two that spit 7.62 NATO, so adding one of these in that caliber doesn't add much more ammunition logistics.

I know they also did some in the enfield Jungle carbine. That's the one I want.
Got to go out shooting at my friend's place yesterday. He's got a lot of open space, a really solid backstop and steel targets. I was able to do a lot things you can't really do at most ranges. Shooting from a draw, barrier shooting, shooting while moving, and switching targets. I also worked on a technique another friend taught me for weak hand shooting and found I could shoot nearly as well weak hand as a can strong hand. Basically, it's the technique described here: weak hand shooting. I would add that I found I was more accurate canting the gun in towards the center of my body a little more than he describes and "hunching" my shoulders slightly.

I've got a couple of Ishapore Enfields in 308 and I wish I'd bought a case of them with a few hundred magazines when I had the chance...
Enfields are great, I've got a no4mk1 I really like and a bubbafied 308 I'll fix one day.
I really want a Gibbs 45-70 enfield one day

I may know where one is, but could be sold (gunstore where I used to live). Should I ask them, or are you not ready, yet? Horizon Shooters in Flagstaff, if you want to call.
Aim has popular calibers in stock.

Not ready quite yet but I'll remember to ask when I do. Thank you
Sadly in this ammo market I'm only buying guns I have ammo stockpiled for or at least sone reloading stuff for it
Slight thread jack.
Does anyone have a 5mm Remington rifle they would like to part with.
Or does anyone have a 5mm Remington they want ammo for?
I ended up with 1000 rounds of 5mm and figured I might as well buy a gun for it if I can find one.
I havent been paying attention to guns or ammo for a while. Based on those ammo prices, i just need to start selling guns off. No way im paying 3-4x what i was paying for ammo. Even at cheap prices i didnt shoot much.

Ammo for that rifle was an extreme Unicorn before this mess--I believe Aguila was the only company to make an occasional run. If you can get someone to take that ammo for what you paid for it, my $.02 is to get rid of it and use the money for something you already have.

+1 on this. Aguila made one of the two factory loads, and likely still does, but the round isn't anything amazing compared to more modern (and more available) offerings. They made ammo to keep old guns running, not cause a resurgence. If you come across a rifle dirt cheap because they can't find ammo and you fall in love with the rifle, go ahead, otherwise try selling the ammo to the guy with the dirt cheap rifle. It is a nice round, but never popular enough to have a variety of rifles and ammo. These days it is like having a good condition surplus military rifle in a French or Italian chambering, except you can't reload for it.
Edit: It looks like ammo prices for that are currently on par with .17 HMR. This is a rough guess, as most of what is on Gunbroker for 5mm is listed as 1/3 over .17HMR, but not moving. I would try undercutting the people on Gunbroker and seeing if it moves. If I somehow come across anyone with a rifle, I will let you know.
