No, not the Public enemy song.
Inspired by the retirement thread, and the Toronto RV show.
Mrs Woof and I went to the show yesterday, with the intention of comparing small travel trailers. We walked through everything, and were particularly impressed with the park models. We had talked about the possibility of spending winters down south, but not lately. When we got home, I started looking into the possibilities in Arizona (her choice).
It looks like you can buy a trailer on a leased lot from about $10k, with the nicer ones being in the $20K+ range.
Any thoughts?

Mine live in a trailer park in West Virginia.
I've got at least 6 people in the Phoenix area I could bunk in with, most bought houses for about 25 cents on the dollar a couple of years ago.
I have in-laws who have park models in Texas, down close to the coast, paid under $10k for them. They like them just fine, since you don't actually have to keep things inside out of the snow...Washing machine in an outbuilding seems odd to me.
they used to keep bathrooms in outbuildings too
Fully furnished.
$24k

I think we're going to have to make a trip to see some of this stuff in person.
We visited Prescott a few years ago. 100 miles north of Phoenix, but more importanaly, it's 2500 ft. higher. Three seasons, small town goodness. We looked at a house that was $430,000 (looking is free) but here's the kicker, taxes, everything was $1300/year.
Welcome to not New York.
Zomby, have you been to Jerome, Az?
I have never even been to the state. My wife likes the look and sound of the place. The weather seems to be about perfect, and the prices for this kind of stuff seems reasonable.
I like the buy in of about $20k, but I'd like to see how long it takes to sell, if, and when we get tired of it. It requires more research, and that's why I posted. We really know nothing about it. I would be surprised if somebody here didn't have some kind of input.

I thought this was going to be a thread about Isaac Hayes' amazing cover of the Jimmy Webb-penned tune that gave Glen Campbell his first charting hit, "By The Time I Get To Phoenix."
Seriously, it's one of the best covers ever.
(But indeed, Jerome is a very nice place. And Phoenix has one of the best pizzerias on earth, Pizzeria Bianco.)

Ever watched any of those "things blank people say* youtube videos?
The running joke is the typical joe Albertan's dream is to retire/own property in Arizona. So you've been warned!
