I've been idly trying to find a video camera for motorsports usage things and stuff for a few months.
Obviously the GoPro HD is on the list.

That one popped up today. What i'm wondering is:
1) Is this a great deal?
2) Would this work acceptably attached to a harness bar?
3) Would i be better off getting a GoPro for in/on car use, and this for outside in addition?
I see no reason to get anything but a GoPro.
I own two of them they're so good.

I'm getting confused by all the gopro variants... which one is THE one to get these days?
The HD Hero. You can buy the Naked setup For $200 and then the suction cup car mount for $30.
I got an HD Helmet Hero on Woot in December for $175 though, which is why I have two. I couldn't pass up the deal.

The Hero2, right?
I'm thinking i just want to mount on my harness bar. I'm currently winning an auction on ebay for a nifty mounting system.

There are better alternatives to the GoPro for in-car use in my opinion. But they can't be beat for outside, especially if you mount low. Just use a tether, even the adhesive-backed mounts won't necessarily hold the camera. I've lost two.
There's really only one current camera as far as I know - the HD Hero 2. All the others are just older variants. Pick up the Motorsport version and you'll get all the handy stuff that motorsport peoples want.

I'm in the video biz, and LOVE the HDPro stuff. The high definition video that they give is hard to believe, considering all the vibration and pounding inside or outside a race car. I just wish it had better connectivity, so I could find an app for my stuff.
