Dropped the old point and shoot today and it's no longer working. Is there a place that recycles dead cameras? I know of some local used/dead computer stores, but wondering about the camera. Can it be recycled or do I chuck it up on the shelf as an offering to the camera gods?

CL it. Ask $20.00 for the whole deal with cables and some maroon will buy it for $15.00.

I bought a Minolta not working and sent it to Sony (Minolta camera is now Sony) to see how much it would cost tho rebuild... they fixed it for free.

You didn't say what brand, but Canon has a "loyalty program" that gives good discounts on replacements for dead Canon cameras.

pigeon: Sorry about that. It's a Sony DSC-S650 7 megapixel point and shoot.

John Brown: Didn't even think about talking to Sony. Will check with them and see if it worth it (already replaced it with a new Sony point and shoot, be nice to have a back up though). Will have to call the local camera shop and see if my Minolta Maxxum lenses will work on the new Sony digital bodies.
