Even for a trained eye like mine, it's difficult to tell.
The chrome grilles indicate it's 72 or earlier. It doesn't have an oil tank door on the passenger rear fender, so it isn't a 72. Now we have it narrowed down to 71 or earlier. The bumper over-riders are late style (69 on). I can't see the torsion bar cover, so it's difficult to tell if it's long wheel base or short.
The best I can do with this picture is narrow it down to 69-71. Others may be able to do better.

Janel's always had a thing for 911s, and she saw one in this color last week. It's on the list.
Mine will look like this.

Are those not both 912s?
Edit: the top one is a 912 right?

Impact bumpers KILLED the 911's classic beauty. They look AWFUL!
When is a 911 not a 911? When it's a 912.
I'll take mine in 1969 LWB Targa flavor, por favor.
Either in Bahama Yellow
Or Sand Beige
The CSS Stonewall was a 1,390-ton ironclad built in Bordeaux, France, for the Confederate Navy in 1864. After she crossed the Atlantic, reaching Havana, Cuba, it was already May, 1865, and the war had ended. Spanish Authorities took possession, soon handing it over to the U.S. government

How on earth can you tell?
The main differences are in the interior. 911 got 5 gauge dashes, 912 got 3 gauges. 911 had a Becker radio standard, 912 it was optional. 911 had bigger wheels with better tires, 912 did not.
Exterior, body, chassis, etc. they are basically identical.
