I think it's just the wide-angle lens.

Thanks!
No lift through the kink on the back straight at Nelson. :)
I should make a post about that day. It rocked. I can't wait to go back.

I guess he goes a little overboard on the drumm solos (I hate drum solos)? I didn't know that. If you ever doubted his ability like I did, listen to some Brand X. Unbelievable drumming.
Michael Shrieve, at a very tender age, knew how to do it right from the get-go:

And so did Steve Upton of Wishbone Ash - with a very short solo at the end of this video:

He was a member of a band that emphasized the sum talents of the group, not just the individual members.

I'm gonna bet Sir Stirling was getting crumpet like that at the same age as you are now - but not in pit lane.

New to pit lane are ya?
Hurricane Hugo.
Sustained 135-140 MPH winds, gusts as high as 185. This thing damn near destroyed not only Charleston, but Sumter and of all places Charlotte. Not as bad as Andrew or Katrina but plenty bad enough. To this day, people down here wince when you say 'Hugo'.
This bridge is only just now being replaced:
It was lifted back into position and twisted back straight after the storm and has been in use ever since, but the SC Dept of Public Safety has been worried about it ever since.
Hugo did a Bad Thing in Puerto Rico too. I went through Katrina in Ft. Lauderdale, not too bad. But I have REAL clear memories of Andrew. If any Cat 4 or 5 storm is projected to come anywhere close, we are outta here.
I saw these guys a couple weeks ago in knoxville...
the BEST LIVE SHOW i have ever seen...these guys are no joke!
