I was thinking tavor but was wrong, they're .556 (use ar mags). Isrealli military uses em, and so do a fair amount of others iirc.

For some reason, people didn't want to spend $2500 in 1990s money for an intake manifold, so the BXR never took off.
(If you're wondering where the distributor is... well, that's part of why it was so expensive. The BXR did not come with that neat belt drive distributor, it came with a waste spark ignition system, and this was before the Explorer made that a junkyardable thing)
