Since I like old things that say Cannondale on them, I picked up this Cannondale Transport truck rack off of eBay for about $20. I seem to remember them, but I can't find any reference to them in any of my old catalogs. There is almost nothing about them online. Does anyone know when these things were made? I'm also wondering if it was made by Cannondale (which wouldn't surprise me) or if it was made by another company and re-labelled.
It's a little banged up but the quality appears to be top notch. At first I didn't think that it would work with the composite bed of my truck, but I dropped it into the tie down tracks and it locks into place nicely.
that is pretty cool. Dropouts on the Fork lock into it?
It's a Cannondale, that means it costs a whole lot more, looks weird and is marginally more functional than a "normal" carrier.

looks like a good design that works perfectly for your truck... I'm running an old yakima roof rack, paid 2x what you did though lol... came with a very old tandem mount... I also have a spare set of Thule load bars that I hang on to in case I ever go back to thule on a future car lol...

The nice part is that one end has left handed threads, so you just adjust it so it's close, drop it into place and by twisting the whole center section, it expands evenly. Then you just spin the big silver locks into place and it's all set. It took longer to type this than it does to install it. All parts are very heavy and nicely made.

If anyone is interested it building a DIY version, I have 4 (at least) fork-mount carriers I'd love to stop staring at. Basically these:

that is def clever... what diameter is the bar? those clamps look a lot like the yakima fork clamps... also because you can rotate them around you can fit them with disc brake forks... I've got a "mini tray" one where it's just the clamp up front and a 8" or so tray for the rear wheel on my roof rack, I had to rotate the fork clamp up a bit to get it to work (caliper hits the load bar otherwise)... so no use of the old school type trays.

those things are great... bolt them to the lip of the front of the bed or your tool box, if you don't want permo mount take a board the width of the bed and mount it to that, that also works for a van or SUV...
on a side note I had a friend who did a GRM version of these, took and old front hub and a U bolt and bolted it to a board that he tossed into the back of his SUV... worked like a charm and he had all the parts just kicking around

I bolted two of those to a 2x4 and was able to stand two bikes up inside the back of my dad's Honda Fit with the hatch closed.
Donalson, I'll have to get back to you on the diameter of those clamps. I won't be near that rack until tomorrow.
I love fork traps. I put three on a piece of MDF for an interior rack in the back of my exploder, swapped two of them onto a tool box on a company truck when I had it, put them back on the MDF when I left that company, and am now using two of them on a home-fabbed roof basket on top of the Exploder.
Hey Ian - what do you want for those? I can always use a few more... PM me.
