Now that I've found my new DD, I'm experiencing this weird empty feeling every time I think about CL, Ebay, Cars.com, or Autotrader. Why do you think that is??

Newtomecaritis.
That feeling of emptiness or completeness that accompanies the fulfilling purchase of a "new" car/vehicle. Symptoms should subside within a year. If symptoms persist, consult the GRM board for the latest and greatest "must have" item.
I get the same thing.
Remember the other Deep Purple song? It's not the kill, it's the thrill of the chase!
In reply to Woody:
And what I really want is a 911, but can't swing that right now. David's article in the recent GRM issue didn't help with that! At least this German finally has a German car that isn't a Bug. Although time will tell if that's a good thing or bad.

Can you write me a prescription for that?
I'm in the exact opposite position; I've offered to help my girlfriend find a car, she's in the last throws of grad school and needs something to take to the west coast for the summer, and the budget is around $3k (keeping a bit reserved for tag & insurance, maybe tires and other maintenance stuff) and I'm hating this. And apparently we have to be concerned with styling... And she doesn't live here.
Going to look at a Subaru this evening, fingers crossed that the thing is still there when I get there after work. Bleh.

If she's too much of a pain in the ass, just buy her a greyhound ticket. If she takes anything over that, you might just break her of being needy/demanding. Otherwise you have a lost cause.

She's not your wife! If she doesn't like what you come up with, make her find her own car!
I'm the designated car shopper among my friends. I love finding possibilities and emailing them to people. But one friend just never answers those emails, so I stopped sending the emails, figuring he didn't care for it. He told his wife - who told my wife - who told me - that he missed getting the emails. Why not answer my email then? Tell me "looks good keep them coming" and I'll be happy. Sheesh.

"Knocking At Your Back Door" ...and thanks... I'll know have that song stuck in my head for days...
For me, it's usually post-car-search-regret: "WTF did I just buy and why did I buy it?"
So far, the only car that's even come close to living up to expectations has been my TDi. Maybe my Acura Integra, but I benefited from youthful ingnorance back then. Everything else has fallen short, some farther than others.
Now I suffer from knowledgeable ignorance: I think I know what I want, but in reality I don't have a frickin' clue.
Same here. I bought a new toy a couple of weeks ago and now don't know what to do with my spare time. Not sure the wife would tolerate another car...I keep looking for a place to hide them!
