Adam Corolla is about the worst TV personality (or lack thereof) ever. I think it's cool that he is a car guy, but seriously, he is unwatchable. And why an ex-NBA player no one has ever heard of and who knows nothing about cars? And the ESPN treatment is awful, every show looks the same and they all suck the same. I'm glad they are making a car show and I realize the difficulty in getting sponsors, but are there no car guys with personality out there?

Thats the confusing thing.
I actually LIKE Adam on his podcast. In fact, it changed my opinion of him a lot. I always considered him a C-list celeb with crude humor, but when he's not in the producers' grip, he's actually a guy I could have a beer with and chat about car stuff. Not to mention, his podcast actually has very lengthy interviews where the guests get to ramble on for a while and tell stories.
I really think the producers are running this show off the rails, and it's not going to be the miracle us car nuts were all hoping for.

I've not listened to a podcast, I don't see having the time nor inclination to sit around and listen to anyone yap at me. I have a wife for that.

AC is excellent on radio, I never listened to Loveline but his morning show was the best thing in town until it got E36 M3canned, it was on 3 hours a day every day and was consistently interresting and funny. That is a E36 M3load of content and work.
I think that the weekly TV program is just not enough time to do all of thier ideas justice, the topics in 0-60 seem not all that important, the current format of the show just doesnt jive with the production of it. Were it a daily half or one hour affair ala daily show or andy number of sports programs then we wouldn't expect so much out of every episode, maybe pare down the cast to 2 or 3 regulars with guest sequences? have a big produced special piece every so often, or break up the large piece in chunks to be shown over the course of a week or so?

Just got this from Matt Farah on FB...
"If you listen carefully, you can hear that it was actually an editing mistake. I had spent 2 whole sentences bashing the older FWD Impala cop cars, but they cut them out until I said "you can't trust a FWD cop car" and it sounded like I was talking about the G8. Obviously I know that the G8 and the Caprice/cop car variant is RWD"
Guess this would explain it but still. Epic fail.
I personally love dennis gage. The peter brock interview actually pissed me off. adam carolla talked about himself alot and interupted him several times when he was about to actually say something of substance I guess most consumers aren't interested in any substance just some boring supercar comparisons and a bunch of lame jokes no actual car discussion. The dirt track segment was kind of cool though.
I am quite suprised that some people dislike Adam Carolla so much. I understand not digging his brand of humor but you would be hard pressed finding somebody who is as quicked witted as Adam. Jeremy Clarkson worked with him and said he could never do what Adam does as far as working without a script.

I'm a graphic designer, and I usually keep my headphones on while I work at my computer. Sometimes its music, but a lot of the time it's podcasts about cars, urban planning, or This American Life. All very nerdy, but somehow they help me focus. Otherwise, long car trips by myself (rare) are a great place to catch up on some podcasts.
i wanted to hear Peter Brock explain why tall skinny tires are better for handling than the wide low profile tires that are used on any car that actually takes corners.. i wonder if he went more in depth on that comment and it wound up getting taken out so they could show him playing with slot cars..

Lets hope our bitching about this will give those who are working with the show the ammo they need to make some changes that help fix the issues that we seem to agree on.
Adam can be a bit brash but he does seem to like cars which I am cool with. Dan Neil is maybe my favorite guy on the show right now and wonder how he puts up with some of the BS. Sally is a nice guy but WTF is he doing on there again? Farah, I'm not quite sure yet.
I still say can him and install Caswell!

keep Adam and Dan, ditch the clueless NBA guy and the big loud guy.
tone Adam down a bit- i like him, but i always get the impression that he is always daring the execs to cancel whatever show he is on. get him to channel the person that he was when he was on Loveline before he was well known, because he was pure comic gold on that show.
i remember one time the band Chevelle was a guest on Loveline, and Dr Drew asked them how they got their name.. they said they were named after their favorite car, which made Dr Drew ask if it was similar to a Chevette.. this set Adam off into a long rant about musclecars and what they meant to our country and our culture as a nation. it was smart and funny without being obnoxious- and he needs to get back to that.

Thank god the editors didn't monkey that up.
One could be excused for confusing the G6 and G8. They are both retarded names that are entirely too close for cars that are radically different.

I test drove one and liked it. I just couldn't stomach the 14 mpg city. The thing had bucketloads of torque. It handled well. It was very comfortable and on par with BMW's imo. Also, the repair cost on it would be lower than a comparable german car.
My 540i6 got 12mpg city. Fortunately I rarely drove it city. It would do 27 highway. I tended to average out to 22mpg in mixed, which I felt was acceptable. I would expect similar performance from the G8 GXP.

I would expect my wife to confuse a G6 and a G8, not a guy who was paid to be on national TV who was an "expert".
Please note, it seems that this was an issue with editing and not outright stupidity.
When I watch this show I'm left with the feeling the editors are not car people, because it seems that all the most interesting in-studio footage gets left in the cutting room so that more 'entertaining' stuff makes it into the show. I'm sure that there was a lot more to the Pete Brock interview that only the studio audience got to see. It's more than a little disappointing.
This ought to make The Car Show look good.
