I think ending up in a 911 would be an okay consolation. Damn, I loved the 7-speed Carerra 4S I had a couple of weeks ago.

Never driven either, and the TT looks great on paper, but after sitting in both(eyes open and closed) I can't think of a better place to sit than the Cayman. Fits me PERFECTLY, all the important controls are right where my hands/feet fall naturally and where I'd expect them to be. The TT feels like someone just smashed some parts together with quality materials. What a funky shifter/pedal setup that thing is.
Good thing I don't have more $, I'd never want to leave the cockpit of a Porsche.
Sigh. Agreed. I actually have a lump in my throat when I have to return them. It's the only time I really envy berkeleying rich people.
One of my coworkers just bought a used '12 TT, but I think it's only the S. It really is a good looking car in person, but he's already had to replace the ENTIRE REAR END. It was still under warranty, but it actually locked up on him in Atlanta.
Funny, I warned him they were money pits. Two weeks after I bought it I asked him " So how's the Audi doing." "Uhhh...it's in the shop for the rear end."
Ya don't say.....
After driving the pants off a new Cayman and Cayman S on track last Friday, there's nothing else I'd spend that kind of money on for a full-capability sports car. Very, very good. The PDK shifters are stupid in the non-S. The S has regular video-game style paddles that work very well. I would get the PDK over the manual, but only if I didn't plan on keeping the car for more than 5-7 years.
If I was worth 100 million, I’d probably drive a first gen Cayman. Best-Car-Evar…unpretentious, tossable, optimal layout, and [Austin Powers] sexyyy [/Austin Powers].
OK, I'll be that guy. I always had a thing for the TT's and still do. I've never driven one but I did sit in one once. Even though I'm admitting to being a fanboy I'd still choose the Porsche.

An old 10v Audi mostly sounds like half a Viper. One of my friends said my Quantum sounded like an old 8-bit video game.
Even with a bone stock, leaking exhaust, my urS4 howls (quietly for now). The sound never gets old combined with the turbo spool and wastegate chatter. If I had the coin (I could actually buy a TTRS if I didn't have the STi), I'd have to go with the Audi. Plus, the new TT is hawt and not nearly as girly looking as the old TT.
The U.S. Porsche website lists the Cayman S with a $64K(ish) base price. With just the options important to me (upgraded wheels, sport suspension, torque-vectoring, xenon headlights) it comes to around $71K.
Considering the RS starts at $67K, the price difference isn't really necessary unless you gotta have all those doodads. Porsche options costs never fail to amaze me.
So yeah, with that in the light of day I'll take the Poorsha.
