In reply to Swank Force One: Some stuff has been remastered for a re-release as an LP and does sound better (mainly because it's not so compressed and boosted to be louder). The main example I have of that is REM's Collapse Into Now. Unfortunately those LP re-releases tend to be way too expensive.

For me I keep up with records because I'm old enough that I was in the Columbia Record Club and actually got records, which I still have and enjoy playing. They sound pretty bad though. Otherwise most of my music (CDs and LPs) come from Amazon Marketplace or library sales.

I recently got that Kickstarter turntable to replace an old Technics that bit the dust, and it's prefect for me.

I used to have a DBX 3BX Series 3 that helped a lot with crappy digital music. Nothing can fix the source completely, but processing helps.
