The difference in child safety regulations between where I am in SC, and where family is/was in CA/NY is ever-widening. I truly think it's important for kids to rise up front when they are in double digits to get used to where controls are, how road signage works, and see a drive ring perspective. If we want to keep them safe, let's just ban cars!

I always thought it was pretty surprising that they can make self driving cars with 600 hp that will park themselves but if you have an infant or toddler......nah. see if you can find something at Walmart if you want to strap them in.
Do they have seat belts in school busses yet?
Honestly, you can't save everyone from every possible danger...
...but CA lawmakers are certainly willing to try... argh.
The California Code of Regulations (CCR) contains 420,434 restrictions and 23,110,146 words as of 2023, making the Golden State the 1st most regulated state in the nation.

That's fine but try driving a couple kids around without going to Walmart first and see what the law thinks.
I have always been a fan of active safety, with passive measures as a secondary aid. As in, when I am traveling with my grandson, since he has been in a forward facing seat, he goes in the front. It is far easier to deal with the million things a kid need when they sit beside me, making me less likely to drive into the back of a 50 foot semi trailer fill of gasoline.
Also, If he's big enough to be in a booster seat , he can benefit from the friendly explosive safety pillow in the dash, just like anyone else sitting the same distance away. Right? Because friendly explosives are good for you, right?
