According to Top Gear wisdom, the douche car of choice is now an Audi. Well Chrysler apparently wants a piece of that sweet douche money (quick, guess with which car!):

I didn't get a douchey vibe from that. It was more of a Superfly vibe for me.
Sorry, didn't pick up on the D-bag vibe.
Chrysler has owned the douche market out here since they brought out the 300/magnum family.
Any self-respecting pants-around-the-ass, hat-on-sideways shiny happy person out here owns a letter car.

Just watched the commercial.
Sound deadening material in the cabin?
Welcome to the 1980s Chrysler, signed: Every car maker but you.
Imported from Detroit?
I didn't know Brampton, Ontario was a suburb of Detroit. What else has Setphen Harper done to us?
The 300 has always had a 'gangsta' sort of look. That's why they are popular with certain groups.

To be fair they've been building your "American" cars since before he was in office
Yeah, I don't get the d'bag vibe either.

Apparently, there's some money in that. The ads are geared towards (their idea of) inner-city. The cars (not just the 300) look gangsta to the point of looking like they are hanging aftermarket trim on them at the factory.
When I see this:

Like since Clinton was in office (at least). My mother's '93 Intrepid was from Ontario. We found it somewhat amusing the '95 Subaru that replaced it was assembled in Indiana.
It would be an interesting research project to determine the number of "American" cars actually assembled here vs. the number of Japanese cars built for the US market. Something tells me the results may surprise a few.

I understand that the 300 has a gansta vibe to some. For I think it is one of the best looking sedans. Amazing design work! And one the best Fiats ever!
Our '73 Road Runner was born in the south-side of Detroit, built in Windsor, Ontario. It was built with sound deadener under the carpet too.
I didn't get the douchy vibe from the commercial. I do think the new 300 looks Audi-like with the front end styling. I also like the looks better than the baby-Bentley 300.

I'd bet there are more Korean cars build in the south than any one of the big 3 in America.
my dad's lexus got beat to hell by the hailstorm in north texas last week, so he's got a chrysler 300c rental while its being fixed. he hates it, the auto-close fill gas cap doesn't seal well enough so it stinks up the garage with gas fumes, the dash all "looks" like its soft-touch, but if you actually touch it, you find that its cheap plastic made to look like the expensive stuff. it has less than 1000 miles on it and the glovebox lid is already sagging out of alignment. the "high tech" shifter selector works more like a joystick, you have to 'bump it' down or up to move between P-R-N-D-L. also with the 8 (!) speed transmission and the anemic v6, its constantly shifting up and down between gears to move the giant hulk of a car around.
In reply to ThePhranc:
chevy suburbans and trucks are built in Dallas/Ft Worth area, F-serires is built in [edit: Kansas City] so there would have to be a lot of korean cars built in the south.
Was that the voice of Joe Mantegna?
I remember when EVERY domestic car maker wanted to take a chunk out of BMW's market. To my mind, a really ridiculous commercial is the one where several drivers "ditch" their BMWs for Audis. (You want to get behind the wheel of a BMW SOOOO bad that you will jump out of your moving car onto a moving truck...so you can sit in what is really a motionless car?) And as a former owner of an Audi, I find the idea laughable that BWM owners want to trade for a new Audi. Well, maybe an A5. That's about the only current Audi I'd want to own.

Chrysler has a long history of building cars in Southern Ontario. If I recall correctly it goes almost all the way back to the start of the company.
"The Dodge family moved to Detroit, Michigan, in 1886. One of the sons, Horace, was a gifted mechanic. Another son, John, was a skilled financier. In 1887, Horace created a dirt-proof ball bearing at his home workbench. John procured financial backing for a company to manufacture the first Dodge vehicle, a bicycle featuring the ball bearing. The bicycle was manufactured under the Evans & Dodge name in Windsor, Ontario, where they moved in 1899. Windsor is just across the river and U.S.-Canada border from Detroit. The bicycle was manufactured in a building leased from their former employer, the Canadian Typothetac Company. Modest profits from this venture allowed them to open a machine shop in 1901 (Latham 86)."

Why aren't there any Canadian car companies? I'm just curious more than anything.
Completely unrelated but I saw this beside that commercial on youtube and got a couple good laughs. Maybe NSFW
