1.)   I've always used Google to find things, it worked well for me.  Dunno how, but now when I search, the page changes to Microsoft Bing; results are more sparse with fewer pictures.

How do I banish Bing?

2.)    McAfee pop ups.  Can't live with 'em, can't kill 'em.   Or can you?

Thank you.

1)  Your browser search engine is probably set to default to bing.  What browser are you using?

2) Uninstall McAfee and you wont have to worry about them.

Go to your browser settings under "Search".  (At least in Firefox) you can select which search engines are used.  Personally I deselect everything except Duck Duck Go.

That's most likely why it's Binging you.

Bing is pretty decent though, partially as Google's search result are getting worse.

Re McAfee, if you have Win 10 or 11, uninstall it and use the built in AV tools. They're definitely good enough and a lot less intrusive.

Search engines use to be really help-full but now that big buisness has figuared out how to game the system it really is just providing you with a list of who is spending the most on advertising.

I use to use them for research when I wanted to try and learn about something but now it is almost useless with the dam things always trying to interrupt what they think you really wanted because you know us humans would never be able to actually type in what we want to search for.

Ditch Bing, use Firefox or Chrome and use something other than Bing for searching.  As stated above if you are in Win 10 or 11 Windows Defender is good enough so ditch any other Anti Virus.  Those will help greatly.

I started using ESET for security reasons when doing banking.  Now thanks to pop ups and misc. crap I use it for everything.  Click into that then open a window in google, no more headaches.  Three  years for $120 is not cheap but it works.

I reset my default search engine to Google......for me it works well. Bing just doesn't do it......in fact if you set your home page to Google it loads instantly and you already have your search engine page.

Firefox for browser and Start Page for search engine.
