Also, the retro NES thing seems to be unobtanium at the moment, but I stumbled upon pretty much the exact same concept except Sega Genesis at Target the other day. $50, 80 games, 2 controllers, plug and play.
Downside though: no Vectorman, and 6 button controllers.
Is your sega the one that has a cartridge slot aS well as the 80 games? I got one for xmas last year that has that and it has vector man on it. But no earthworm jim, but with the slot I just have to buy it on ebay.
I didn't buy it, but looks like it: http://www.target.com/p/sega-genesis-classic-game-console/-/A-50017679

I didn't see it answered before, so I'll bite.
Nintendo makes some strong stuff. I know my wii motes got hucked at nearly everything in my apartment with little other than aesthetic loss. Nintendo packed them with neat little silicone covers, which is nice, too. The console seemed to be plenty strong for what it waz.
I was going to say either the latest Nintendo, or an emulation system with all the NES/SNES games.
Old TV with Xbox 360/PS3 downstairs. New TV with XBox One upstairs.
Daughter is 4, she uses the XBox 360 steering wheel/pedals to play Forza 4 and Horizon 2 on the Xbox 360. She will have my son's old JC 50cc kart next season.
Son is 8, he plays Gran Turismo 6 with a full blown Fanatec GT3 wheel/pedals on the PS3. He plays Lego Star Wars with the controller on the XBox 360 and Forza 6 and Horizon 3 with the controller on XBox One. He has been driving since he was 5 and just got his first big boy JB kart (L206 World Formula) this winter.
Nintendo 3DS. Because Pokémon.
