^ How could putting a hardtop on a roadster be any easier? There's an extra step to roll out the paint protection pad and whatever they're doing with the cosmetic cover over the rear anchor, but this is otherwise a pretty standard hardtop installation/removal. Hell, it's hardly any different than taking the targa roof out of a C4, only difference being this is a bit more unwieldy.

When did I say it could be easier?
Sorry, but if I see its a nice day outside to take out the roadster/convertible, I don't want to have to call my buddy and wait for him to come over to help me take the roof of my car. Hence, why it's a pain in the ass.
Also, a targa roof can usually be managed by one person. A removable hardtop? Not so much.
takes me 30 seconds to pull the hardtop off my miata. I'm sure a little refinement of the attachment points and they could make it a one-man job with a roof hoist.
I'd like to know if this changes access to the fuel tank. There's clearly some kind of latch behind the phony cap.

Yeah, but--no offense here--every single Miata equipped with a hard top that I've seen has a ton of scrapes on the back deck lid from the single person lift. Not exactly something I want to worry about on my beautifully-restored 'Vette.

A more relevant question would be how much harder is it to change than the standard mid-year roadster hard top? The answer is "not much". And it looks a thousand times better. But I have the same question as Woody about the gas filler...

People are doing it wrong then. Mine has zero scrapes after a year of on-and-off tom foolery.

And there you go. I don't know of 50's/60's era American car with a removable hardtop that doesn't require two people or a roof hoist.

I'd rather use a hoist to get that roof off my mid-year Vette than take one off my Miata by myself.
Any one else notice the very wrong hood scoop for a '63? I like the top idea as long as no permanent mods need to be done to the car

Looks like they have it set up so you remove the whole phony cap from the rear deck and install it in the hardtop. In the video you can see them taking it out of the hardtop and reinstalling it in the rear deck.
I would think it just has a "pipe" that clicks into the stock filler like the stock cap does.. then you put the stock cap onto the end of the pipe. If it is done that way.. it is rather elegant
I can pull a Miata hardtop off solo in about 15 seconds without a hoist. Never, ever damaged a car or a hardtop in the process. Of course, a Miata hardtop is Miata-size, it wouldn't work with a bigger car.
I like the Corvette version, that's nicely done.
I think it's pretty neat, actually! Most modified mid-years do the year mix-and-match anyway, and I know the original hardtop is a royal PITA to take on/off, so this is actually a very cool piece compared to that.
