Even if they're not in contact with other hospital workers, it is easy to draw that line at "Hospital System Employee", cross those people off the "To Vaccinate" list.

As an ICU nurse, Mrs NOHOME gets her first jab tomorrow. Big relief even though I will probably have to wait till the fall before it becomes available.

A friend who is a teacher (teaching virtually) just told she is scheduled to get stabbed.

I've known one of my best friends since I was five.  He was born with a congenital heart defect and wasn't expected to survive puberty but was one of the first in the world to receive several ground breaking operations and is very much alive today at the age of 54.  He got married and had a kid 6 years ago but his heart finally gave out and he got a new one (along with a new liver) 1.5 years ago so he's on permanent anti rejection meds which compromise his immune system.

Everything was going fine until last week when he crashed his electric mountain bike (former balls out motocross and dirt track racer) and broke seven ribs.

Pretty high priority right?

Well, his wife (super nice person BTW) got breast cancer 2 years ago and had surgery the same day my friend got his new heart and liver (incredibly E36 M3'y odds but true).

Let's go for the win with...

He's in a hospital in Azusa which has just about the highest COVID infection rate in California.

He is a god parent to both of my daughters (I know, I know...picked a guy with an extreme risk tolerance and a bad heart) - I've got a back-up  

I will do whatever it takes to care for his son Logan should come to that.

If you're interested at all, MIT has a course on how COVID is transmitted, they're giving access to the course away for free.

An actual college course, so it may be difficult to get through, but what little I've seen is facsinating.

If I was out collecting money to set at home, I would love to take that. I have not taken any collage credit classes ( if I'm even saying that right) since before online existed, so I don;t know how well I'd do. But that would be cool.

But I'm doing well to survive the hours I am working, sadly

Is it truly a course that teaches anything different than any other medical course on viruses?

In Strafford County, your group is behind 7,991 others.

This may be affected by my job though so I may have an earlier opportunity. 

I did not look at doses per state as I am in no rush and will likely get the shot at work which is in Maine.

Just speculation.

My parents (83 & 72) got their first doses today!  Booster is scheduled for Feb 1.  Looks like I might get to see them for my birthday in March!

My wife got hers yesterday.  Moderna she said.  Was sore at the injection area all afternoon.  Chills and headache through the night and she's pretty beat today.  Staff who gave the shot said folks who had the virus more recently would have residual antibodies and the vaccine is reacting to those? (see the question mark?)  She had a mild case of Covid in November.  Hopefully she'll feel better later on today.  Hopefully it's one and done.  She was also told she may get priority access on airplane boarding with her vaccination card.  YMMV

My wife works for the state in the give-away-my-money department and she got a notification the other day that all of them are in group 1A.  Nearly the entire cabinet is work-from-home, all recertification requirements and interview requirements have been suspended, and there is no part of her job that would ever entail providing medical care for covid patients or entering a long-term care facility.  I'm really scratching my head about that one.  That job has no particular risk of exposure as well as no particular risk of spread after exposure, but the gov seems to think that the whole group needs to be in front of senior citizens.

I did hear that the hospital that my brother works for is reconsidering their proposal to vaccinate every employee as part of group 1a. 

I was talking to my mom last night and she's quite anxious for her group (1b) to be called in for their shots.  The only reason that we've all been isolating from mom & dad is for fear that we'd get down with the sickness and unwittingly pass it along to them so once they've had been able to get both barrels as it were, that part of our family life can go back to more or less normal.

My wife got a weird 2"x4" rash and some arm swelling around the (moderna) injection site on day number NINE. Nothing else prior and it is mostly back to normal on day eleven. She had a busy week treating COVID patients including one with explosive diarrhea. Thankfully they have enough PPE now. I'm really ready for this E36 M3 to be gone... but numbers are rising dramatically. berkeley.

Got second dose on Wednesday 

fever and Tremendous headache all day Thursday and today . There was 0 reaction for me after first dose 20 days ago 

but glad it's all done and over with (for now)

This is the summary of adverse reactions can happen after second dose of vaccine.

“Systemic reactions (excluding hypersensitivity)
The most common systemic reactions include fatigue and headache. Other systemic reactions include arthralgia (new/worsened), myalgia (new/worsened), chills, fever, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. Frequency and severity of systemic events were higher in younger patients (18 to 55 years of age) than patients >55 years with the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine (mRNA); frequency and severity were also higher after the second dose compared to the first dose, except for diarrhea and vomiting (similar regardless of dose). Similarly, the frequency and severity of systemic events was reported more frequently in younger patients (18 to 64 years of age) and after the second dose with the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine (mRNA). In general, systemic reactions were mild to moderate in severity and resolved within 1 to 2 days after vaccination (CDC 2020). Intractable nausea and vomiting requiring hospitalization occurred in one patient who received the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine (mRNA). This patient had a history of severe headache and nausea. An unsolicited systemic reaction possibly attributed to vaccine was lymphadenopathy.

Onset: Rapid; within 3 days after either injection (CDC 2020)
