Why do I want to put a 4G63 & transmission from a GS-T Eclipse in the back of a Geo Metro so damn bad? How hard would it be to do that anyway... Just outta curiosity...

This is almost an established kind of project, isn't it?
You just need to build a subframe to house the engine, trans, and rear suspension, and keep it in a package which can be tied into the existing body after you cut away an appropriate hole.
Note that I was able to use the word "just", so this should be easy
In reply to Conquest351: Should not be tough but why settle for just one drive train and rear wheel drive when you could have all wheel drive. Link to Red Greens' how to video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8WnKkJI3sM
There's already an AWD bike powered Metro that I'm in love with built by Kevlarcorola (hope that's the right name). I just think a mid engine 450hp turbo Metro would be awesomely unnecessary.
metro? psh. use a festiva. Its lighter. and cooler (factory box flares!)
turbo 4 cyl? psh. use a v6! more torque.
festiva shogun!!!!!!
I think someone built one and brought it to the challenge several years ago. bueller?
In reply to RossD:
So lets take 2 identical FWD drivetrains from a skinny chassis, and insert them side-by-side in the back of a wider chassis, with their inboard output shafts locked solidly(thus making each unit 1-wheel drive). And add a joystick instead of a throttle pedal.
