Well, I somehow survived the barn rearrangement without getting bitten by any, but the 6 cannisters of Raid insect killer killed everything in the barn, EXCEPT the black widow spiders. So, since I am getting the e36 out and want to get cracking on pulling the engine, I want to dearachnid it. Any tips, advice, or don't do's? Since the Raid failed miserably, I'm thinking about just pull the seats, steering wheel, and shift knob off and pressure wash the whole damn thing inside and out.
This car has been gutted and in storage for the last 4-5 years getting its "Barn find" look going. Swank force and oldtin are the only ones from here who've seen her in hiding. Otherwise too many people have probably seen it in Google searches. Its hard to miss a nicely modified alaskablau ti.....
I was gonna say fire too but since it's in a car...if you lived in a hot enough area I'd say park it in the sun with the windows rolled up. Did the trick for any bug that refused to get out of my 'rolla.

Thats a tough one, it has been getting hot enough here, but it doesn't have door windows anymore.....they were removed to prevent bleeding eardrums.
Carbon Monoxide. Start a chain saw and let it idle in the car with the windows up.
Brakleen. Chlorinated or not.

Car doesn't have windows in the doors...
In reply to Bravenrace:
Do I also eat them like ants after they're nice and crunchy?
In reply to Bumboclot:
Thanks, I'll give that a try as well.

Actually, you may be on to something. Carbon dioxide will kill 'em just as fast, if not faster. The percentage in an open volume required to kill a human is silly-small. With tape over the open areas, a few canisters should take care of it and the result wouldn't smell or be burned.

I just noticed the lack of glass. Tape some plastic over the holes.
lizards, bats, scorpions...
all eat spiders
Wasp and Hornet killer seems to work well on spiders, especially when you can't use a flame thrower on them. Plus it doesn't hurt surfaces like carb or brake cleaner can.
Yes, tape some garbage bags up there.

Bats live in the barn as well, I've seen some rather strange things out there this year.......a "wolf" spider that was nearly the size of a silver dollar dragging a small mouse(oddly enough, the raid killed the wolf spiders and somehow killed the mice)
There are also some reddish tinged spiders the same build as the widows that survived.....I have never seen them before this year either.
ive killed black widows with Spectracide brand spray for hornets and wasps.
Dont go completely crazy go nuts with it or you will go through the can in about 15 seconds.
Sometimes available at a Walmart supercenter. I usually buy it at the local farmer's coop, though. Works. I declared War on Spiders myself, after one too many brown recluse bites while crawling under the car.

I'm thankful I haven't seemed to get those bastards here. I'll stop at wallyworld and look for that terro stuff on my way home.
Fire, applied liberally.
Interiors are overrated.

Love that stuff, will stop a wasp or hornet in it's tracks. Literally knock them out of the air, i try to keep a can handy. You will run through a can fast if you have a heavy trigger finger, but it will also spray 10-15 feet away so you don't have to get too close, just aim and shoot.
Don't get bit by a black widow, no good comes of it. Ask me how I know.

That would be "one", I assume
Yeah, one is too many, and 4 or 5 is WAY TOO MANY and calls for War. But now that I know how to recognize the bites right away so I can start some topical steroid, the damage is minimal.
I clean out my shop a couple times a year with the Raid fogger and it always kills the black widows. But it doesn't kill the eggs and they hatch a short time later.
You are supposed to rebomb in about 3 weeks if I remember correctly to kill off the next crop of spiders and then after 2-3 bombings it's supposed to have cleared them out, until more find their way in.
A never ending battle in other words.
I'd suggest rebombing
