What happens in the fall? I'll bet no one works 25 and gets paid for 24.

That's exactly what happens.

Daylight savings? I've never seen one cent of these savings.

You would be going to work in the winter in the dark, if you work 9-5.

I went to work in the dark in the winter, I went to work in the dark in the summer … didn't make any difference EST v EDT … 'course I usually got to work ~ 5:15 - 5:30 am … but since we go off at 3pm .. EDT sure helped with work around the house

I'm not sure why people complain. It is what is is. Also it does save energy. Less lights used in the winter mornings, but people like more light in the summer evenings. It's also supposedly safer for children going to school in the winter months. More daylight in the morning, easier to see kids crossing the road.

Finally, being in Michigan it's awesome. For some stupid, but awesome reason we are in Eastern, not Central time which is where we should be. So in the summer it gets light at a civilized hour and not dark until really late. Poor saps in Mass. or Main have to put up with sun rise before they even go to bed and it's still dark early. He He. There's a health food store in Traverse City Mi with a sun dial outside set to correct 'sun time' and it's about 2 hours off in summer.

Since I get to ride my bike after work in the summer I could be on board for never changing as long as we get to keep the after-work sunlight. Going to work in the dark doesn't matter, and I'm not going to get in 30 miles on a road bike before work at any time.

OTOH if we stay on the winter setting I imagine I would have to more or less give up road biking. Which would really suck. I'd rather give up cars. Seriously.

I know we added 2 weeks to each end of the DST last year. Wasn't that supposed to be a stepping stone to staying on DST year round? Or am I imagining things?

I believe it was for energy savings, not a stepping stone.

I got up at the usual time this morning, left the house within +/- 2 minutes of my usual time, but for some reason the traffic was unusually light and the train was nearly empty. Did that many people forget to change their clocks all day Sunday?

I hate DST. Maybe I wouldn't hate it so much if we were on central, but being on Eastern sucks donkey... um... kong? Middle of summer it is still light at 11pm at night. When you get up at 5am, that sucks.

That and I lost an hour yesterday. I want my hour back.

You see the trick is to be in a constant state of sleep deprivation and tiredness. You don't notice the changeover at all and you get the bonus of a later sunset.

It's a lose/win thing but you get so used to the losing it is taken for granted.

That issue probably has more to do with your provider than it does the phone. My husband's Galaxy S4 updated the time correctly with sprint.

I noticed the same thing. Now that the traffic is picking up, everyone seems to be in a pissed off hurry. At 10 over on I26, I'm getting my doors blown off.

My aunt hates it for the same reason as Bobzilla as well. She has young boys. She would like them to be in bed and asleep by 9:30 or 10:00, becuase they usually have to be at basketball or school or on the farm at 7:00AM, but how can she tell them to go to bed when it is still light out?

IIRC, last June 21 sunset was at 9:21pm. 9:30 and the berkeleying sun is still up. That puts "twilight" after 11pm. That's just not cool, especially when your alarm is going off at 5am. It's why we bought black out curtains for the bedroom.

Now, if I didn't have to work, I'd probably love it.

For the complainers, I grew up in the North of England. In Summer it's getting light at 4:00am and still light at 11:00pm. When we picked up the Volvo in Gothenburg in 08 we were wide awake due to jet lag and anticipation most of the night. It never truly got dark. Down side is in December is it doesn't get light until 8:30 and it's getting dark by 3:30pm

I was in Edmonton for an IHRA drag race a few years back. They always promoted their Saturday Night of Fire, which ended with fireworks...at 11:30...with the sun still up. DST doesn't do much for us here.

It's not DST that I am upset about. Being on EASTERN time when you're 1/3 of the way across the US is what bothers me. Almost all of Central Indiana is on Eastern. We're ~400 straight miles from the coast. That's a bit far west to be on the same time zone.
