oh yeah, on the record, by "how hood is this area" i wasn't referring to the ethnic makeup of the residents. just want to make that clear, it was more a "if i put 4 cars in the shop and part them out am i going to have my junk stolen" question. i grew up in cleveland, and our crap got stolen or broken into enough there. my buddy's junk still does, he's had 3 cars stolen from his driveway. maybe he should move.
either way, i did a google street view walk around the block. there's a nice looking park/playground across the street and none of the area looks dumpy. i wish i had seen the listing while we were down there last week. i know i could afford the payments and i could have it fixed up pretty quick, but there is no way i'd be spending this winter down there so it would be hard to buy a place then not really use it for a while. i have a feeling more stuff will come along, but this one looks like a decent deal.

Looking at the pics and having lived in FL for the last 35 years I'd say you would have to replace the bottom two feet of all the exterior wood.

Sometimes pending is a contingency contract. If you have cash, contact a realtor or the bank.

I actually looked at that house for a friend of mine about six months ago. Deland as a whole is not bad at all. That particular area has quite a bit of drug and prostitution going on. Can't comment on possible theft there are several body/ mechanic/ metal work places right up the street from it.
If I recall the house had some wood rot windows broken out. Never went inside of it.
