Yeah, saw that an hour ago. Everyone is Shocked, Shocked, I tell you to find that Detroit has no money.
This shocks me more than Bernie Bribing people and finding out that Hennessy Honda of Woodstock sucks.
Not only are they broke, they've been broken for some time now.
And why should the Banks pay as seen in the signs at the top of the article?
How much money does Honda have? Maybe they could buy the whole city. Or Toyota. Dang, that would be funny. For Sale - One major American city, scenic views, needs some work.
Watch it! Don't go saying anything less than flattering about Detroit.
This will be interesting to see how this plays out. I had a feeling it was coming, I don't know that there was much of a choice given that city council wasn't willing to consider anything that might help the city.
Might be time for the "native americans" or whatever we call them this week, to start buying the country back with all the casino$$$$.

Dearborn is how close?
The Chinese & Native Americans don't have a chance. Just google what's been quietly going on in Dearborn for quite some time now.

Wow--the media blackout on that is pretty astonishing.

x2
This will happen to more municipalities.
More people collecting welfare than are working combined with inept government and not just in Detroit.
How could all that hope and change promised in 2008 let this happen??

I work with a guy from Detroit; his dad is a retired GM autoworker. He won't even take his kids there to see where he grew up as crime was so bad. In fact, his old neighborhood is totally abandoned. He showed photos one day of his old area, and it was shocking. Really something like you would see in a war zone.
I also read a couple of years ago that people were not only moving out, but they were taking their dead with them. They were relocating people out of cemeteries to other parts of the country.
As far as other cities, I imagine Birmingham is not far behind either. I have a relative that works there in the city planning department, and it's in bad, bad shape. The county it is located in is also near bankruptcy.
