Um, yeah, I go to a lot of live shows. Tonight we saw Dick Dale--front row, even. It was another awesome performance, and even though he's about to turn 75 he still shreds the guitar. I first saw him about 20 years ago, and every show has been stellar.
This tour still has some dates left, including Atlanta: http://www.dickdale.com/dates.html

I saw the title and thought, "Oh God!No. He's dead!" Glad he's still kickin' ass.

Me too! Dick Dale is awesome!
We almost went, but, you know, that stupid real life thing got in the way again.
Every time I hear Dick Dale I can't help but to think the same thing. "I really want to see the movie that this is the soundtrack to."
And the thing is, it could be anything from a wacky beach party romp to some hard-boiled fedora-wearing detective noir, and it would still work just fine. Although whatever kind of movie it was there'd have to be at least one scene of racing hot rods in the L.A. River.

Dick Dale is awesome! We saw him last year in St Pete. He could make Steve Vai hold his jacket while he bitch slaps Eddie Van Halen.

Me three. Greatly relieved to hear he's still pickin'.
Bunch of my friends and co-workers saw him when he came through Harrisburg. Apparently I missed out. The guy can play.
OH SNAP! Guy is coming to my neck of the woods. I'm gonna tweet this to all my twits.

How did I not know:
A) He plays left-handed

Me Five! Be careful with those thread titles.
I saw him at the Troc in Philly a couple of decades ago, right after Pulp Fiction brought him back into the public eye.
Go see him if you get the chance. A couple of years ago, Dick Dale was a last-minute stand-in for a no-show Ray Davies at the Glendale Hot Rod Show (they shut down Brand Blvd and all manner of cars get displayed with eats and entertainment). Dick and his son torched the crowd with insane guitar licks and everybody had a ball.

In reply to Jerry From LA:
I don't mind Ray Davies, but that would be an upgrade stand-in.
Dick Dale grew up in the wonderful city of Quincy MA, where I am typing this very post.
He still melts faces.

I just missed a chance to see him at CTIA in 2001 - I didn't know he was playing. Still regret that.

Ooooh, he's coming to town. I'll have to wade into the deepest, most annoying bowels of hipsterdom, but it'll be worth it.
I thought I was going to be the first to notice the upside-down, left handed playing. So- left handed guitar, strung upside down, played left-handed. Makes me feel like I sold out my lefty brothers by learning to play right handed.
