I have to go there for work. Well I am working south of there but that is the closest big city, which has more than one hotel option. Is there anywhere good on the south side to stay for a couple days?

I don't live in any Columbus, but just wanted to mention that there's a Columbus in a lot of states and I wasn't sure which one you were looking at.

I am near Columbus, GA, but I have a feeling you mean Columbus, OH.

I live in Dayton, but have been to Columbus often. If you're actually south of there for work, Grove City is just south and I remember a crapload of hotels near I-71.

I don't think I would recommend anything on the south side. German Village is nice but I don't think there are any hotels there. If you just want a place to sleep and don't care about being around anything good there should be some places in Grove City.

Columbus, Oh is an interesting town in that all the fresh water supply (reservoirs)are in the north part of town and the waste treatment is in the south part of town. Not sure if it is coincidence but the north part of town is highly desirable, the south part, much less so.

A recently, highly developed area of the south portion is where I-71 meets Stringtown Rd. This is one exit south the I-270 which is the "ring road" around the entire city giving you good access.

I bet the elevation is higher up north, too.

Yes, it could be said that the E36 M3 ends up at the bottom.

Actually, it is all very similar to Indy.

I like the HI Express in Dublin. Might be too far for you.

I agree that Grove City and Stringtown Rd (sorta the same thing) would be your best bet. Should be a lot of mid/econo level (Hampton Inn, HI Express, etc) choices in that area as well as chain restaurants.

Downtown is only about 8 miles further north if that's your thing.

I agree with the above...Grove City is about as far north as you want to go for a room, unless you skip past the I-70 corridor.(Excluding the Hyatt downtown and such).
