I'm looking for your suggestions on "essential" DVDs. Specifically, tv SERIES or miniseries on DVDs. I FINALLY figured out how to work the media player on my computer (I don't have a DVD/Blu-ray player...yet) and so far I've watched a few movies and a series that ran on BBC America. Be as original in your recommendations as you care to be, but it would help if I could actually buy it, so if it's REALLY off the wall, tell me were you bought it, too.

I don't want to prejudice anyone, so I won't say what I watch on tv, except that I DON'T have cable or dish and never have had them.

Larry David rocks!!! My suggestion is the trials of life, life in the freezer and life on earth. All BBC documentarys hosted by David Attenborough. Only problem you might have is they are not region 1 so you'll need a region free DVD player program to play them.

And, see if you can get hold of a BBC comedy series called 'Peep Show'.

I don't really watch TV, but I saw that show twice (and loved it). Correct me if I'm wrong, but is it not an updated version of Soap?

If you like Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz check out Spaced, it's a tv series from the late 90s they did.

TV Mr. Show with Bob and David Arrested Development Firefly Spaced (BBC)*must own The Office (BBC) 30 Rock

Movies Star Wars 4-5-6

Star Trek 2 (4 and 6 maybe)

Serenity

Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz (must be watched back to back)

Heat

Stripes

Futurama movies (tv content is too easy to find on line for that, as is the rest of the Adult Swim lineup)

Dark Knight

X2

Children of Men

Robocop

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

3:10 to Yuma (both versions)

The Quick and the Dead

Whichever Wyatt Earp film didn't have Kevin Costner (sorry, Kev, you got whooped but good by Kurt Russel and Val Kilmer, but you'll be redeemed again soon.

Like now: Kevin Costner Sports Movies. Any and all, they're all good. Bull Durham, Tim Cup, hell, even For Love of the game practically makes me weep. That flick never gets old.

True Romance

From Dusk til Dawn

Other: Planet Earth series Winged Migration

Finish those and reprot back for another list.
