Appliance in question is a GE front load 6cu ft dryer, model GTX18ESSJ0WW. Worked fine yesterday, today will not start. Breaker is not popped, but I cycled it anyway - no change. I partially disassembled and tested the door switch, start switch, internal 30A fuse, and the three of four thermal cut-offs I could get to for continuity and proper operation - all tested OK. There are no outward signs of trouble - no burned or pinched wires, nothing seemingly out of place. Where do I go from here, before calling the appliance repair company?

I was going to suggest fuse.

Does it do anything at all or is it completely dead?

In my past it has always been the door switch.   The switch may be good, but is it really getting tripped when the door closes?   I had one last month that the switch had moved in its mount and the door was no longer pushing it enough to register as closed.

Seems to be completely dead. The door switch mount can't really move; it's mounted from the front, and the only way it could move back is if the lip broke off the switch, which it hasn't. I will try to manually close the door switch and see if I can start it.

Edit: It's the door switch. I held it closed and the dryer started. Now I just have to rig something to make sure it gets actuated. Thanks folks.
