Maybe it flopped because everyone is flocking to Tata showrooms to snap up this bad boy. I still wonder how it doesn't face plant if you slam on the brakes.

I'm not holding out any hope that Elio will ever see production, but I'd sure like it to. I like it, and it would be a great commuter for me. Even if they do make it, I won't be an "early adopter", I'd see how it all shakes out.

2017 also requires side curtain airbags IIRC.

The product is right - or it will be, if it ever comes to fruition.

However, the marketing is all wrong. This is not a first car, or an only car for anyone. This is a commuter for the guy who is tired of spending $400/month commuting in an empty F250 SuperCab.

He saw the car in person at the Detroit Auto show last week. The article seems to be optomistic about the Elio. There are a number of good pics there too.

I sat in the car at the show and now more than ever I really want them to make it. I drive about 50 miles round trip each day and this thing would be perfect for that. So while I have not given them any money I do have my fingers crossed that it will happen.

The front end looks like they took a Saturn Ion and put it in a vise.....

I want a line of LED fog lights at the base of the wheel pods.
