Well, it's not so much Ellie Mae as the actress Donna Douglas. She is sueing Mattel for using her likeness on the packaging of a "tribute" Barbie doll. Apparently, she and a few other actresses from the '60s are having or were having dolls done in their likenesses. 2 of the other dolls were Elizabeth Montgomery and Barbara Eden. I'm no Waylon Smithers, but I like the idea, just wish they had asked Ms. Douglas for her permission. AND WHERE'S THE ANGIE DICKSON DOLL?

Those two dolls will cost a premium. Extra plastic is required for certain anatomical areas.

There's a discount for the Jayne version; she lost a bit off the top in her accident.

On a sorta-related note: I saw, in person, the Jayne Mansfield car at the Kruse auction in Auburn about 20 years ago. Exactly as it was after the accident, but cleaned up.
Back to Ellie Mae, who didn't age gracefully...

Keep in mind that show aired almost 50 years ago.
the jane folklore is exaggerated. her wig was pulled out of that pipe, not her head. mariska and her brother were asleep in the back seat. mickey was taken as well. law and order svu...
Donna Douglas was a hottie in her day.

What pipe?
IIRC, she was essentially scalped when her car ran under the back of a semi.
it's not a "Donna Douglas" doll- it's an "Ellie Mae" doll.. does she even have any rights to the "likeness" of a character she played on tv a half a century ago? i'm pretty sure the studios pretty much owned the actors that played the characters in tv shows and movies back then.
You just don't see enough large-breasted women walking around with slingshots these days.
The tv studio MAY have owned the Ellie Mae character, but it MAY or MAY NOT be allowed to use Ms. Douglas's picture/likeness to sell the doll. That's the issue the lawyer's are deciding, and if Ms. Douglas owns the rights to her likeness....Mattel owes her some kind of royalty.

No problem. When you find the real life version you can send her my way.
Maybe she didn't age as gracefully as others, but I recently saw on one of the news programs how the cast of "Happy Days" is going after marketers. Someone is making money off the show but it's not the cast.
If you did a body of work and not being compensated, wouldn't you be torqued?
Joey, this one's for you. No real ones. Sorry.

This sooooo needs to be in the "Say What?" section. We all need to vote this up
She's nearly 80 years old...I wonder how handsome you guys will be at that age.
The Yahoo story says Ms. Douglas is 77. She doesn't look too bad for an "older woman".
