Call this a spin-off of the Flaming Lips thread. Looks like there's a ton of good bands on tour right now. So, what's on your list and who do you recommend? I saw GWAR last week, D.R.I. is tomorrow, and I have tickets for NOFX and Suicidal Tendencies. Me First and the Gimme Gimmes is very tempting, too.

What are you going seeing and recommending?

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. Hoping to be able to make her concert in town, but have to make travel arrangements for a funeral first... GWAR and Suicidal Tendencies would be awesome though. I know that I will be working the Muse concert in a few weeks.

I have developed what I call my "bucket list" but it aint what you might think. It is the list of the old farts I want to see before they kick the bucket. I dont recognize any of the names you list but go to all the concerts you can stand and afford. You may regret the decision to wait.

Just got in from D.R.I., and looks like they have a few dates left on this go-around. Nice to see that traditional thrash is alive and well.

I saw Muse back in March or April with Silversun Pickups opening up. Muse was fantastic but my big grip is they didn't even play for two hours even as a headliner.

I'm seeing the Steep Canyon Rangers in December. Really excited because 1. they're awesome and 2. the band that I do sound for is opening! If anyone likes bluegrass, you need to look the SCR up.

Thrash you say? Guess I'll go youtube them and give a listen.

I finally got to see TOOL a few months back in OKC, amazing AMAZING show. I'm hoping I'll get to see QOTSA when they come through town again as well as Deftones.

I don't really like much new "rock" type music. It all seems so formulaic.

Then I was utterly disgusted at the new Slayer album. It's just terrible. You can tell it was a "hey we've got to make this record to meet our contractual obligations" type record.

Saw the SCR last summer at an outdoor venue in PA. What a great band! They did an awesome show!

Bad Religion is coming up on the 30th, and Social Distortion is sometime in November. Time to get back to my punk-rock roots.

And here's some more live GWAR. I think this video pretty much sums up their whole raison d'etre.

I hate you. I'd love to see any of those three.

As of this past Saturday I have seen 70 bands, some more than once which don't make up that number. Saw Gwar last week. In the next fews weeks I'll be seeing Devin Townsend, Dimmu Borgir, cKy, & Suicidal Tendencies w/ DRI & Cro-Mags. On my way to 100 bands in a year, it's gonna be tough.

The fall & winter is a great time for shows. Most bands I listen to are off doing the European festivals throughout the summer.

I was shocked to find out they were coming here. Sunday i saw posters for the show plastered all over the side of a bodega in Spanish Harlem.

Well I fulfilled a bucket list concert on Sunday night with Tom Spangler who's also on here. I've wanted to see Pink Floyd for decades, and when Floyd was still Floyd I was too young, too broke, too geographically challenged or all three to see them. Roger Waters is currently doing a 30th anniversary tour of The Wall so we went. Wow, what an amazing concert, absolutely stunning, he may be an old fart at 67 but he still has it. As The Wall was really Rogers baby and he took the rights with him when he left the band I count it as authentic! Modern technology has really helped the visual experience. 'Mother', 'Comfortably numb' and 'Run like hell' were simply amazing, well the whole concert was amazing they were just even more so. Stunning concert, worth every penny, even the $15 parking and $8.50 beers!

Hmmm, just got a call, and I'm driving a load of employees to BOB tonight. No idea what I am getting myself into, but I will get paid to go see (likely) bad music.

It was a tough debate where to go tonight: Bad Religion in Orlando or Me First and the Gimme Gimmes up in Gainesville. Bad Religion won out--shorter drive plus House of Blues is an awesome venue.

Awesome show. My brother saw Me First last night. He said it was good but added that I probably made the right choice.

Not for ages yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing Iron Maiden, Primus and Gang Of Four all at the same festival come March next year.

She is devine, isn't she???

I haven't seen a national act (seen a few local/friends bands) in AGES. I think the last "real" show I saw was the Screaming Trees at the Avalon in Boston in 1996. Ugh.

No desire to see live music anymore--although when I heard Of Montreal on Sirius XMU Sessions on Friday, I thought "damn, Ill bet they're great live"

We saw Maiden this summer. Awesome, awesome show. Have never seen Primus, though, and would love to. They skipped Florida on the current tour.

How was it? I actually like B.O.B. he draws a lot of influence from rock as opposed to other rappers.

Just found out that another band from back in the day is on the road: Man or Astroman? They can best be described as futuristic surf pop mixed together with lasers and a gamma rays. Saw them a bunch of times when living in Atlanta. In fact, they even had a GRM sticker on their trailer.

^^Awesome . I bet that'd be a great live show.

I've just bought their album 'Is it...Man or Astroman?' on ebay. Couldn't not, after this review - http://www.allmusic.com/album/is-itman-or-astro-man-r206610/review
