Out of curiosity what is everyone's favorite beer? My favorite is Harviestoun Old Engine Oil.
My favorite is the kind that someone else paid for; even if it is Busch out of a can or Natty from a keg.
If I'm paying, my go-to beers are Yuengling, Dogfishhead 60-minute, and Old Rasputin, depending on how much money I'm willing to pay and what time of the year it is. I like hops during the warmer months and malts when it's colder out. As I mentioned in the "What are you drinking?" thread, I am eagerly awaiting this year's release of Ten Fidy from Oskar Blues Brewery.
All I owe to my recent beer education I owe to the folks here.....
I'm on vacation this week -- just spend $50 or so at the local Central Market for a few things that I can't find anywhere:
La Fin du Monde -- seems to be highly recommended here -- haven't cracked it open, hope to around Weds or so.
Arrogant Bastard -- FTW! No need to say more
Also picked some Voodoo Dixie Lager -- hard to find, but so good!
I also like me a jug of Mississippi Mud black and tan every now and then........
Also can't go wrong with a Guinness -- but the cans are much better than the bottled version.

Have you tried Dogfishhead's 90 minute? I do think it's a little better.
A beer that springs to mind right now is Abita's Turbodog. It's easy to find and pretty damn good. I don't think I have found my FAVORITE beer yet. To me that'd be like true love!
I love a good beer nerd thread .

Have you tried Ola Dubh? It's Old Engine Oil aged in whiskey barrels of different vintages. My local homebrew shop had all 4 of them sitting on the counter when I went in today, I was tempted. I've had the 18yr and it was great. I like Old Engine Oil, but the Ola Dubh is really something else.
I am not even going to try to pick a favorite beer. I'd have a hard enough time picking a favorite style (Imperial Stout? Porter?), or brewer (Allagash? Smuttynose/Portsmouth?). My favorites that I've had include these, some more often then others due to price: Allagash Black, Four, and Interlude. Victory Storm King. Smuttynose Robust Porter, Baltic Porter, and Really Old Brown Dog. Old Rasputin. Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout. Rogue Mocha Porter and Chocolate Stout. Stone Oaked Arrogant Bastard. Bar Harbor Cadillac Mountain Stout. Dogfish 90 Minute and World Wide Stout. Cantillon Lambics. There are so many great beers out there that I could probably list another 20 or so that are right next to those I've listed.
I would love to try Ten Fidy sometime (obviously the style is right up my alley), but we don't seem to get Oskar Blues this far north.

Yeah, but if he's paying, the 4-pack of 90 minute usuallly costs more than the 6 of 60. I'd still rather have the 90 though.
@Orphancars:
Fin du Monde is great, but the real stars of Unibroue's lineup are Maudite and Trois Pistoles IMO.
When I want a high ABV beer, I like Labatt Max Ice (available in a 24oz can).
When I can spend some $$ on beer, Saison Dupont is hard to beat.

Belhaven Scottish Ale is good, but you really have to feel like it at the time. If you don't like typical smokey-peat Scottish drinks, you won't like this one. Stone's Arrogant Bastard is real good; could take paint off a wall, though. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Samuel Smith Nut Brown Ale are great too. The beer snobs may turn their nose up at this one, a mass-produced simple Irish Red Ale, but I really like Smithwick's (pronounced Smiddick's). I prefer ales, but I realize that most of the lagers I've had were crap, except for Brooklyn Lager.
Smithwick's it's pronounced Smiddick's. Or if I want something lighter maybe Labatt's. Hard to go wrong with a good cider too. Woodchuck or much preferred Cider Jack, but Cider Jack is hard for me to find.

If you shop the right place at the right time, a 24 pack (cans) of Yuengling Lager is $15, and it's the perfect match for piddling in the garage or hanging out.
no joke I enjoy Natural Light > all. Cheap and effective. A true man's beer.
Although...I will drink New Castle, a Snake bite, or a Skullsplitter every now and then.
I'm not a beer connoisseur by any means so I usually stick to what I've had before but my fridge is always full of this delicious beverage.

I saw some bottles of that sitting at a local liquor store. I will have get some wednesday.
On a regular basis, probably Pranqster by North Coast Brewery
For truly amazing, higher end beers:
Gulden Draak.
Saison DuPont
I am very partial to Belgian Style beers.
The best part about high-end beer is that they are cheap as all get out compared to other alcohol.
I am a big fan of Belgian style too, but I don't eating the $10 every time I pop a cork.
I regularly buy Guinness since it is cheaper than most of the other beers that I enjoy. My favorite recently has been The Poet Oatmeal Stout, or a Young's Double Chocolate Stout.
I went to the Blue Danube (local restaurant) tonight and tried a Barley's Scottish Ale, it was enjoyable.
I have a bottle of Double Bastard that I need to try soon. But I tend to stick with porters and stouts.
My favorite is from a local brewery. Otherwise I like Blue Moon and Becks. And Bud Light on a budget. Or Buschlite on a real bad budget. But I've not tried very many.
Just enjoyed Stone's Ruination IPA, pricey but worth the extra $. Their Barley Wines are pretty darn good too. However all beers have their moments, I do enjoy a cheap beer while stripping 50yo paint off the side of a house. Maybe it provides protection from lead poisoning.
Let me think...
In the US, it's probably the various speciality beers Sam Adams makes as long as there isn't Raspberry or somesuch in there. But The Wife will drink those...
Being German an' all that, I don't really enjoy much of what the UK breweries put out with the exception of the odd IPA. I've lived in Bavaria for a while so my favourite summer beer is a Weizen (wheat beer, but the Bavarian ones are a lot more foamy than the American ones). Fortunately I can get several of them here. Plus there's always Belgian Beer, Chimay in the various colours is always good and I do enjoy a dark Leffe.
One of my absolute favourites is a beer brewed in the little village in Switzerland that my mum lives in. They only use local ingredients, you can only get it in the village and I think then next town down the road but boy is it good. Just a basic lager-style beer but supposedly the brew master is very picky when it comes to buying ingredients and it shows.
