Favourite Driving Glasses?

I'm a sunglasses buff, particularly cool vintage brands like Ray Ban and Vuarnet. Finally bought myself a pair of Serengeti Driver's glasses for Christmas. Really like the lenses - no squinting and the soft rosy colour is easy to see through with no distraction. Looking forward to trying them out on a long road trip next week. I usually end up pushing my glasses up on my head when the sun goes in... but the Serengeti auto gradient feature's supposed to alleviate that.

People might look at you strange but....

I've got a pair of Sarengettis, I really like 'em. Supposedly they do the same thing as a transitions lens, where they get darker or lighter depending on the amount of light, but I've never really noticed it.

I don't know that i'd wear glacier glasses driving, either.

My pic is a pair of Carrera's I had in the 80's... brown in color...my Dad kept stealing them.

Girlfriend at the time took them off of me and threw them out of the car...

I just bought a pair of Hobie Onofre and I love them. I had no idea that Hobie even made sunglasses and they were (relatively) cheap. Lightweight and polarized too.

so far my favorites are a set of Eagle Eyes® some one else's version of the Blue Blockers....cuts glare very well

also I've found the yellow lens (shooter type) works very well in low light situations ... overcast / rain / even at night

I like my ray-ban aviators

I still wear oakley razor blades.. I need the wrap around not for style, but to protect my eyes.. they are VERY light sensitive

CLASSIC. And they are HUGE.

I've been wearing various Serengeti Drivers for at least 20 years. There are no better lenses.

I have prescripptions for distance, my sailing experience shows that brown is best for cutting glare. Now I use brown tinted scripts. Poifect.

I have a pair of Serengetti Gerogetown frames with drivers lenses and never really liked them that much. I much much prefer polarized. I've had my current Oakley Whiskers with polarized lenses for a year and absolutely love them. Lightweight, stay put on my head, comfortable, distortion free lenses and good coverage. My only gripe is the lenses are a little dark - I have the black iridium lenses - but I have sensitive eyes so I wear them nearly all the time anyway. I'm debating getting a second pair with the brown polarized lenses for darker days.

I used to wear Oakley. I found a pair at in a roller coaster at a fair. Yes they were genuine. I wore them for about 8 years. The temple broke twice, I sent them back to Oakley and they would fix them for $20.00. When they said they no longer had parts and wouldnt give me any credit towards a more current model I told them to pound sand. Now I wear a $25.00 pair that look like Ray Bans and like them well enough.

whatever i find for about 5 bucks at the local gas station. The pair im on has lasted for about 2 years and look a lot like the Serengetti drivers glasses. Im sure my lenses are of a much lower quality though.

Oakley halfjackets. I got a good deal on them, and they fit in on a golf course. If you're outside 8 hours a day in the sun, 7 days a week, the cheap sunglasses just are not going to cut it.

I have a giant melon, and the only things that fit me are Spys. Have a pair of Spy McGraths I paid 20$ for in a nice tortoise shell color. I also have a pair of grey paisley Tourings, that are apparently ULTRA limited, as I have yet to see another pair in the wild.

It's important to note that not all Serengeti's come with the Driver lenses.

Ditto, I get the cheapest aviators I can find. Preferably with the amber fade lens, and a gold frame. Anytime I spend more than $15 they disappear within a couple weeks. This $6 set is almost 6 months old, slightly bent, and a little scratched, I'm beginning to fear that they will never leave me.

Carrera's for me. I have a deep-tint pair (but not polarized...makes reading some LCD displays difficult) and a yellow-tint pair. I originally bought the yellow for night driving. Didn't work like I thought. But I do find they work great at dusk and when the sky is overcast.
