I just got a claim check from UPS for a package that was originally shipped in May. I spent at least 12 hours on the phone to get it. I barely made minimum wage for the time I spent. Keep on top of the claim. They will drag it out and hope that you go away. After I faxed the ebay receipt for the item (twice) UPS sat on it for 6 weeks. When I called again the girl told me that she would forward my claim to an adjuster. 4 weeks later I called and she told me that they had just cut a check.
