Ren seemed too brash–powerful, dangerous and eager to destroy, yes, but he lacked Vader's discipline. 

Kylo wasn't a villain, he was a revolutionary. Darth Vader was evil because he was carrying out the orders of others without a moral compass. Good and evil are balancing forces, Darth was on one side, then went to the other. Kylo on the other hand, isn't on the side of good or evil, he wants to get rid of both sides completely and start over.

Surtur and Hela both could handle Thnos too, I guess that's why they were taken out in the Thor movies.

I like the portrayal of Kylo, anyone that thinks that Driver isn't up to Prose and Jones (at that time in their careers) is high.  The problem with him is the same problem with the rest of the sequel trilogy.  The writing is ____ing horrible.  They try to get by with visual effects (which, to be fair, are stunning) and let the story be dictated by what they want to show.

Movies and media that doesn't involve the main characters in the Star Wars universe is much better quality than the sequels and that is because they can be free to not berkeley up people's childhood.  Rogue One, Mandolorian.

I'll give you that. But I've yet to be convinced that Disney has done worse for the classic characters than Lucas himself. Talk about terrible writing.

I can't rise to the level of geek motivational interpretation going on here, but I agree Kylo was let down more by writing than by the actor.  Still, the follow on trilogy is still far better than the prequels even if they are just re-hashes of eps IV, V and VI.  I've just started working my way through all the films in canonical order, so I've done I, II, III, Solo and Rogue one, and  I'm half way through ANH right now.  I was still shouting at the screen 'Han shot first!' last night, and still pissed at the lame ass Han stepping on Jabba's tail too.  JAbba would absolutely have had Han blasted for that.  Having said that, it's been a few years since I last watched A New Hope and I'm still blown away by the cinematography and practical effects.  It takes me right back to being eight sat next to my dad in the cinema for the opening matinee in 77, which is one of my cherished childhood memories with my late farther.

These movies were thirty years apart. It is hard to keep up with a more sophisticated (more easily bored) audience. I'd pur Vader and Kylo about equally above their respective landscapes as far as viliains goes. Remote choking? Bad a**ed. However, for a modern audience, I thought emoRen was spellbinding. Overall, They didn't berk it up, unlike the First (middle) trilogy. 

Boba Fett was the best villain. (until they gave the stupid backstory that he was every stormtrooper in the Clone Wars)

More aimed at young adults and Star Wars fans than for kids?  Combat is more GI Joe than hacking off limbs with a light saber, if that makes sense, but the dialogue is good.  It fills in a good amount of the areas left open by the prequels.  Also, Filoni knows the universe and uses that.

Like most shows, first season is a little rough, but they find their footing and move on from there to a better quality

I'm just now watching clone wars. The first two seasons were hard to get through for me. 
You should watch that though, and I can't recommend Rebels hard enough. But there's some stuff that works better if you've seen clone wars first. 

I'm watching Clone Wars as well. I don't know that I would have ever watched it if not for being stuck at home, but I'm enjoying it. I hadn't seen all of the prequels until earlier this year. The Mandalorian, and Rise of Skywalker both got me wanting to learn more of the backstory, so I started watching Clone Wars when my wife went to bed at 8PM. 

I'm now halfway through season 3. Season 1 was really, really rough, but my manager at worked convinced me to stick with it. Season 2 was better, and by halfway through it was really good. Probably every 4th episode though is rather pointless. I'll watch Rebels after this. If you do watch Clone Wars, watch the Clone Wars movie first. Its short and gives you some relevant backstory.

Oh, and I haven't read any  of the books or comics or video games and I won't. 

I honestly like Rogue One and Clone Wars better then anything else Star Wars. Mandalorian is good so far. 

All of the main movies ep I-IX suffered from mediocre writing and even worse dialog. Grievous was a better villain than anyone in the prequels. 

Palpatine/Yoda are the most powerful force users in my opinion. Ahsoka is probably a better example of what the Jedi should've strived to be like but she was a little too loose for the Jedi Order. Obi Wan did the best he could and is probably one of my favorite characters, dude was dealt some E36 M3 and never let his failures define him. Plus, he always held his own even when overpowered  (see him vs Maul and Savage Opress in CW). 

I honestly did not like how the last movie ended. It really made no sense how Rey was able to take out Palpatine and I didn't like that Kylo died.....did they rush the ending of that movie or what? 

I wish Filoni could've wrote the movies lol

I don't understand why Kylo Ren had to die. His healing from all he had been through would have made a much more interesting character and gone on for a whole series of movies. I don't think the Rey character was developed at all. Who trained her in the force to the point that she could defeat her Father, the source of all evil. Maybe if she and Kylo had formed an alliance. It's almost like there was a corporate decision to end the series, kill the best character and move on to the next set of movies with entirely new characters.

I remember how Gene Roddenberry sold Star Trek to the network by describing it as Wagon Train in Space.

Rebels is so good. The first few episodes I had trouble with but not nearly like CW. And there is a fair amount of the Force "deep magic" stuff, which is super cool.
