All- curious to know if any of you have a converter for flac music files to the various forms, specifically the iOS aac version.

The band I love the best allows recordings at shows, and I got basic instructions to torrent the files to my computer.

Anyway, now I have two aac files from the two concerts I attended this past weekend.

Now what?

I know I can get a player, but I want some ideas of players/converters that people here like. Part of what makes this board great.

I use JRiver. It's one of the very bew media servers that is capable of playing pretty much any audio file.

I'd get a nice flac file player and not mess around with a conversion. I love listening to uncompressed (well mostly) flac files of shows.

I've used fre:ac in the past and have nothing but good things to say about it. No-frills, does just what you need it to.

There are audio player apps that will play most all file formats...most decent ones do, at least for Android. USB Audio Player PRO, Onkyo HF app, and Neutron Music Player would be the most popular apps on Android. I know there are also apps for iOS that will play FLAC and AAC, but I don't know which ones...

For Windows OS there is that one free program that everybody seems to like, Foobar2000, plays almost anything and is a very efficient and compact program. All I have is FLAC files that I've either ripped from my CD collection (using the free and most excellent Exact Audio Copy) or purchased online.

I use Audacity for conversion. You can set it up for batch, so it'll chew through a directory for you.

I use XLD. You can also convert to Apple Lossless from FLAC without a problem.

ffmpeg/avconv can do it (for free), but it'll take some effort to get the best quality:

I appreciate that thinking, but given how we use the phones, I'd rather convert it.

Realistically, the sound isn't as good as a band recording of the same event, so making the conversion isn't going to be that big. Using all of the mic's available + all of the instrument inputs + mixing it (including just enough crowd sound) >> than two mic's on a digital recorder 30 feet in the air.

At least listening to the concert the first time.

As for the rest of the suggestions- thank you very much!!!

Some of the ones suggested, I've heard of, others I have not. But it also means that there's no one "go to" converter- that a lot of them work really well. And I know all of you have much higher computer requirements than I do. So this helps a ton!
