The level of rendering for their "car porn" auto vista mode is unreal...

There's actually drag racing in 3. Don't know how realistic it is, I haven't tried it.

Where? I only played my friends for a couple weeks and I never found it. Didn't look to hard but didn't find it so I donno...

How do you turn the line off? I don't see an option in the HUD, and I'd like to get rid of it.

It's not all that realistic. The time starts as soon as the countdown timer ends. If you're racing in career mode, I'm pretty sure you'll have to level up some to get to the drag strip races. Or you can go online, but you have to have exactly the same car or you'll finish last.

IIRC, select "Go Race", choose "Event List", and the drags are in a single column somewhere over on the right side (they're divided by HP, but will say "300hp Drag Race" when you click on the little box). Can't doublecheck to see if I'm right at the moment, Logan's watching a movie and I can't load the game.

And extra money. As I used to say in my public lobbies for Forza 2 online, "..I've never seen the line painted on any racetrack I've ever driven..".

Thanks guys...it was really distracting. I kept looking at it the line close up instead of landmarks in the distance

Yeah, it's like looking only 6ft off the front bumper, instead of looking down the road. How would that work in real life?

An aside..when the lack of customized public lobbies in F3 became apparent, there was a huge outcry from folks like me who complained about not being able to turn off the line. Turn 10's official reaction was, "..we're trying to bring the racers & videogamers closer together.."

My immediate response was, "What? After I've spent the last year and a half trying to kick the little bastards out?!?!" There's a reason so few people play F3 online anymore. IMO, that's it.

I'm glad I ordered my copy a couple weeks ago. After watching the 24 min video I'm psyched. I know there are at least 2 car clubs I'll be in. And, the improvements they were talking about with the AI have me excited and a little apprehensive. I haven't really gotten my ass handed to me by the AI since like GT2.

so xbox 360 question... mother-in-law is itching to buy me something (I don't understand it either but hey i'll take it) and wife had mentioned the xbox 360 to her...

so have some questions... CL is out... so i'm debating between refurb or new...

gamestop has refurb with wireless controller 20gig hdd, $99

new I can get one of the slims with 4gig HDD and built in wifi (nice but not necessary as it would be next to the modem right now and down the road I have spare DDWRT router), HDMI for down the road when I do upgrade TV (may be a while) $199

i'm leaning towards the new system for the warranty and because it's quieter... but is 4gig HDD enough? will I kick myself for not getting a 20gig? I will play online at some point i'm sure and want forza4 when it comes out :)...

so thoughts?

get the new 4 gig, the new ones now also support a USB stick expansion, they sell a 16 gig stick that can be used to store download/game content and such. that will get you up to 20 gigs.

hmm paper has a deal for $229 the 4gig slim + 12month live starter kit...

I'd do that, then keep an eye out online for deals on the 250 gig hard drive.

I find them on the local craigslist occasionally, and you can find them on ebay all day.

You can buy a 250Gb hard drive later on and install it in your 4Gb. I bought a 4Gb about six months ago cause you couldn't find a 250 WITHOUT the Kinect. They had a sale going on for the 250Gb hard drive at the time, so I bought that too. Just slip the cover off the top (or right side, depending on how you have your 360 sitting) and it pops right in.

I think the buzz may be out about this game, I just stopped at my local Gamestop to upgrade to the collector's edition of the game, and the fellow behind the counter told me there were already over 150 preorders for it.

He claims it may be the first racing game that store has a midnight release for.

Ahh...October...the end of racing season...the beginning of couch racing!

You can buy a 60gig off brand HD for like 20-30 bucks that works fine. When they went to the new kind of slim boxes everyone started making a HD for the XBOX. The only thing the off brand drives can't do is play old non-360 xbox games. They lack some kind of Microsoft programing. You can also get 80, 120, 250 ect if you want.

got it... along with forza 3 and halo 3... just got the thing hooked up and used up 2gig of my 4 gig (and only 3gig usable apparently)

will get to playing later tonight and on live asap for some fun :)

as for forza 4... $80 for the extra package setup... OUCH... but i'll prob start saving my pennies...
