I am just preordering the collectors edition of the game itself. I probably won't get the console until next spring/summer.
I would happily buy it for $300, but not $400.......I have to buy a nice sticky set of Michelins for the bike over the winter after all. I am also figuring Assassins Creed IV will keep me preoccupied for awhile on the 360.
I'm hitting bonus at work next month (yay!) and have earmarked a chunk to go towards new Xbox hotness.
Then again, Forza is most of the reason I opted against PS, been a big fan since the first game.
Dear GT: No crash damage = you're not a sim. xoxo, Snow
Main thing I keep forgetting though, is that I don't have an HD TV...
will have to rectify that at some point too. :P

Sure as hell not going towards food......

I'm leaning this way as well.
The only reason I bought a PS3 back when was in anticipation of GT5. (and as a blu ray player i guess)
The new xbox would be virtually the same.
Same here. Last time I owned an Xbox/Forza was when 3 came out. I didn't leave my apartment for a year. Sold it all, haven't really looked back.
The had the man behind Forza on The Smoking Tire podcast a couple months ago. I don't play the game, but the depth they go into to make it is impressive. Even if your not a player, this is a great insight on what lengths the Forza and Factory Teams go to in modeling and planning.

Reserved, although I do feel a bit ridiculous about spending the money on it.
Oh well, the system and a few games are still cheaper than a couple track days. Another plus, no one frowns on me lapping Bathurst whilst drinking whiskey and driving in my underwear...besides SWMBO and the pups that is.
I'm seriously considering getting one of the systems to help with the timing aspect of my driving. I inherently dislike the subscription aspect of any console, but is one inherently better than the other?
I have a room for it, I am working at stealing the XBox and my 51" back from Sarahs son... Need a wheel, a half an XR4Ti and a bunch of beer ;)

The new generations are effectively identical.
If you really hate subscriptions, the new GT game (GT6) is coming out for the PS3, which has no subscription (PS4 will), in December. You will have to buy a console on its way out (but it will be cheap), and GT6 should be viable for quite some time (at least a year or two). We have a very active GT5 racing community here currently that is filled with very good and clean drivers (one of are previous regulars just won CSP at the Nationals).
I have found racing with others here online has a noticeable effect on keeping calm when AutoXing. (avoiding the red mist)
i keep telling myself ill wait till christmas to get my brothers to buy me GTAV for 360, and maybe I can score a PS3 for cheap after the new consoles drop and I can tinker with GT5 and GT6 when that comes out. And also im pretty interested in The Last of Us and I am sure I can find some other exclusives to try.
That would hold me over/distract me for a while. I think.
I am in the same boat I am not nearly ready to drop money on a new console. I just bought another 360 like a year ago.
In reply to aircooled:
But I like the red mist when autoxing.......it makes me try "dumb" things that 60% of the time work every time......
On a related note, any word yet on if there will be a FM5 collectors edition? All they have available for preorder is the normal FM5 and FM5 "Day One" edition......
