Jim Nabors, AKA Gomer Pyle, has passed away.
What was the last time he sang “Back Home in Indiana” at the Indy 500; 2014…2015…something like that.

It was at least a couple of years ago. If I remember correctly, he had been sick, and missed a 500, then came back for one more time. After that he retired.....knowing the end was near. It's strange not having Florence Henderson, or Jim Neighbors sing before the race. Also with Tom Carnegie gone---- the 500 pre-race sure doesn't sound like it used to. Time marches on.......
When I make sales calls in Indianapolis I sing “Back Home Again” and I also do Tom Carnegie impressions as I drive around by myself. Sales leaves a lot of alone time
And it’s a new track record...
According to CNN he was 87 and is survived by his husband. I had no idea he was gay but it pleases me that we've gotten to where that can be just stated instead of hidden. RIP
"Lugs, what day is it?"
"Three Chicken Pits past Sunday..."
Probably not his best know character, but my favorite of his.
In reply to KyAllroad (Jeremy) :
One of my co-workers talks about Mr. Nabors hitting on him back in the 80s. I will have to tease him tonight when I go into work
