For years, I resisted the urge to go down this rabbithole. I had a bunch of RadioShack 9.6V stuff when I was a kid, but always wanted to get into something a bit more substantial. A few weeks ago, I dipped my toes into the water with this guy:
Axial SCX24 Gladiator. My son and I are having a blast with it.
Tomorrow, I'm picking up a Traxxas TRX4M K10 to go along with it.

Powar - yes... that is the slippery slope I've been trying to avoid.... made all the more difficult when there's an RC shop within walking distance of my house.
Bookmarking this to return later. Buried somewhere in a closet is most of a Kyosho Javelin that got badly modified and then parked when other priorities took over sometime around 1990. It might be worth reviving in some fashion one of these days.
My nephew has been trying to talk me into building a low/mid priced scale crawler. I'm sorely tempted but fear I would get bored soon.
I am thinking I may pick up a little RTF electric park flyer of some type at some point.
