What does the group think of some of the non-Tesla EV stocks?  Fisker and Nikola are trading for under 75 cents...  Lucid at 2.58 and Rivian down to 14.67.

While I'm not an EV person, I'm tempted to jump in on some of these...

Tesla TSLA is on sale today!  Time to stock up!

cheeky

I like Tesla for its leadership position and other aspects of its business, purely as an investment of course.  This whole battery-powered car fad will fade out soon enough.

Why not pick a tech ETF that includes Tesla so you're not putting all your eggs in one basket?

VCR is weighted roughly 13% in Tesla and the folks at Vanguard know what they're doing.

Have you ever done anything slightly crazy just for the rush?

I agree that a tech fund cuts risk substantially.

If I were a betting man, and 99% of the time I'm not, rivian would be about the only one I would consider. They still have considerable headwinds but they are getting vehicles sold at some kind of volume at least.

Two excellent fund picks would be FSPTX and FXAIX.  The former has an annualized one-year return of nearly 60%, while the latter has returned a mere 26%.

I'm interested in hearing more about what you like about Rivian. That's one of the few companies I would NOT consider. They are fantastically under water right now, sell their product at a 20% loss, and are betting on being able to scale up to almost 10X their current volume in about 2 years (but it is really apparent they can't hit that volume for at least 7 years). Plus, they are now beginning to finance using debt instead of investment.

The cash is there at the moment, but their business plan is a massive Hail Mary.

To what extent does the misspelling of "brakes" in the article title affect the perceived validity of the article content?  Is the author a total bonehead?  Or does he in fact know more about stocks than automobiles?

NVDA is up 922% since the beginning of this thread. Every time I think that we've plateaued we start climbing again.

What's the story with it ?  I haven't been following.  Do you own any shares ? ( I hope you say yes !)

I just checked out of curiousity. WOW !

That's a HUGE 3 month gain.  Is there room for more growth? (should a fool buy in at this point or has it peaked?)

Good times

From a few pages back ( on Feb. 3-2021)

I bought in a few shares back around that time (partly based on your recommendation) and it's done well.

Here's today's (one year) chart:

Anyone got a current stock buy recommendation ?  I'm planning on cutting my losses on some loosers  and want to move that $ into something new.  What's the hot tip today?

Put money in a diversified account and just leave it there.

Sad story:  I bought NVDA some years ago for 15 a share.  Sold it at 100 and was very happy.

Sorry, I missed your reply. NVIDIA is leading the AI boom. As one report said, we're selling shovels in a gold rush.

The stock is up 61% YTD and roughly 19500% since I started 15 years ago.

It's currently down about 5% from the peak last Friday.

Yes. I own shares. Five years ago I thought I would never retire. Now I have to talk myself into not retiring on a daily basis. My goal now is to retire at 55.

Yep.  That's where about 98% of my retirement money is located.  Boring and predictable.

I have a serperate much smaller investment account, that I like to play around with a little.

Little bit of both, it's a very real thing.

Nancy Pelosi stock is the most famous

I might (ok completely and definitely) despise her as a human being and politician, but she has made E36 M3 loads of money on the stock market while in office. If I had anything to invest I would have started following along years ago.

There's a 30 day delay, because while we can't stop the insider trading of politicians, we can force all their transactions to become public record. The delay is a bit of a catch 22. 30 days is a long time in the business world, and a lot can change in that time, but it does provide a good sense of what's coming up, or how seemingly unrelated world events can effect the market prices.

Nice!

That's going to be the "one" I get right in  my life (I'm a terrible gambler).  I originally bought in around $1.50, and when it dropped to nearly $1 shortly there afterwards I dumped some more in.  I sold just under $4 a share and was pretty happy.

It got us out of some credit card debt we accumulated during some construction and helped keep my UA operation going over the holidays.

Now I just have to spend the rest of my life NOT looking at that ticker price so I never regret my sale in the future cheeky

That's the kicker.  I bought a bunch of RCL during Covid, doubled my money, sold, and thought I was a genius.  Whoops.  (For context, it went on to more than 6x a year or two later).

I don't regret it (much) though, because I sold it to buy the big piece of land I'm putting a garage on.

Checking in again.  Is there a parallel to the A.I. bounce that NVDA has had lately?  Or some other industry that's about to pop ?

Has this just become a momentum play, or is there really that much value in the company's future earnings?
