Bacon bearin' critters cannot just amble around the underbrush being friendly. Nevermind the bacon, they also carry ham and pulled pork under that vaguely pig-like exterior. Had they not evolved all that meanness to compensate for their deliciousness they would have been extinct long ago. They might be still if other predators discover apple wood smoking processes.

I got a hunting license for the first time last year, just so I could hunt hogs in the Green Swamp with a buddy who was coming down from TN to do so. We didn't see a damned thing. My pet hypothesis is that all the pigs were vacationing in Aruba that weekend.

We were in the Santa Ynez mountains near Santa Barbara driving the new Honda Accord last month and there was a HUGE dead wild pig by the side of the road. We couldn't believe it, we Canukistanians have never seen anything like that before.

They get pretty big down here, 4-600 lbs full grown, and they've been known to kill ranchers calves, sheep, goats, dogs if they're not careful. Only a matter of time before someone's kid gets attacked, then there might be something done about it. Maybe.

Hogs just aren't mean.

They're pretty crafty for a hoofed animal.

In NC, night hunting and spotlighting is allowed for hogs. I understand that dogs make the process easier, but you shouldn't get too attached to your dogs.

I found hog tracks and crap out when I was fishing on the Neuse one day last year. This was just outside of Raleigh itself, too.

It is pretty bad.

at least in texas, may be different in other states, killing/hunting any animal that is considered a nuisance on the property by or for the landowner doesn't even require a hunting license.

Bacon shortage a hoax !

So the article that started this thread talked about global shortages in corn and soybeans brought on by drought and other weather issues in prime producing errors.

So why is everyone in this thread worried about bacon? I mean, have you seen how many products you buy have corn or soy in them?

To be absolutely honest..I only saw Poop ask once. It was a comment to an equally epic GPS post..but IIRC it was a political thread, so I won't look it up.
