Had to put Milo down today. 3 months shy of 14 years old, we were so fortunate to have 5 years with him after we adopted him and his brother, a samoyed (RIP).
Im gonna miss him.
Since the Great Pyrenees first came to the US via a gift from Lafayette to George Washington, we are toasting him with a froggy beer today, and lamenting the fact that it isn't below freezing with a nice layer of snow to keep us comfy:
My condolences for your loss.
Wait a minute. You got a Pyrenees to fit into a Miata??
Looks like a great dog. Sorry for your loss.
Sorry for your loss, mtn. Milo looks so happy and content in those pics, I'm sure you gave him a great life. Going to give my boy some extra pets and love tonight.
Sorry to hear but seems like he had a good life with you guys.
RIP Milo. Sorry for your loss.
So sorry for your loss. Eternal walks, Milo.
I'm so sorry for your loss. He had a long run for a Great Pyrenees at nearly 14.
My condolences. So hard to have to let them go.
You made each other's lives better. I'm sorry you lost your dog. RIP Milo.
Sorry for your loss. It looks like he had a good life with you and your family.
There are no words that help.
I'm sorry for your loss.
Condolences. We lost our Heidi this winter. Never easy.
You were meant to find each other. Love doesn't care if its 5 minutes or 50 years. So long, buddy.
Damn, so sorry, it sucks saying goodby to our furry four legged family members. I hate to ask right now, but what about a pic of his late Samoyed brother? I ask because I read this over the weekend while we were on a 1,200 mile round trip to pic up our new Sammy puppy. I wont post gratuitous puppy pics out of respect for Milo (RIP)

Want to start a new thread? I'm all for gratuitous puppy pics, in any thread including this one - though I think we probably have a few of those already.
Here is Frosty. We adopted both Frosty and Milo together when they were 8 and 9 years old respectively; they'd been together since they were puppies. Their owners died, 3 days apart from each other. The shelter refused to separate them; they were there for 9 months because nobody wanted 2 elderly dogs, especially separate breeds that are each quirky in their own ways.
We thought that he was Sammy mixed with either Aussie Healer or Aussie Shepherd. However, after he passed, my wife posted some photos in a Samoyed group and a lot of people contacted her with similar looking Sammies that they had - and believed them to be full Sammy. Apparently it is a recessive trait that the AKC/FCI/UK Kennel Club type folks have worked very, very hard to breed out. Whether Frosty was one of those or not, well, we don't know, but other than the spots he was 100% Samoyed in every way.
My advice, if you've never had a dog with fur like this before: Get a good cordless vacuum, and a good, powerful, corded vacuum. You're going to want to do a quick spot vacuuming every day. 5-10 minutes ever other day with the cordless, and once a month with the big gun. Otherwise you're bringing out the big vacuum once a week and it'll take 30-45 minutes.
Here he is being a hungry boy. He ate EVERYTHING. Lemon fell on the ground? Ate it. Jalapeno? Ate it. Meat? Obviously. Bread? Loved it so much that he'd smell it anywhere in the house and bark in its direction; we had to keep it up high. Stole a McChicken from my brother in law, I was so proud of him. And this dog never, ever, had any vomit or loose stool.
Here he is with a hole he dug, he was a great digger:
Pretty sure it was about -10 in this picture and I was late for work. Really Dad, why would I come into a warm house when I could be outside? Its wonderful out!
RIP Milo. He looks like the goodest boi in all those pictures and living his best life.

Oh, and the other thing with both Sammys and Pyrs: They have teflon coats. Dirt and mud and leaves all just fall off. Brush them regularly, but they don't need to get groomed that often as long as you trim their backside. This makes your house much dirtier though, because the dirt all falls off... in your house. Very clean dogs - Frosty didn't even smell like wet dog when he was wet - which make your house dirty.

I wish we got a picture of Milo's greatest hour. He caught a skunk. He tried to bring it in the house, I'd never seen him so happy. He was tossing the skunk in the air, shaking it, catching it by the tail and walking up the deck with a proud strut. My wife was screaming at him; I was screaming at her to shut the door.

Kioni is not showing up, but I assume its cause its a white background.
Strange, the picture shows up for me. Google photos can be a bit weird at times on this forum. Trying a different photo now.
