I'll be moving up there in about a week to work for the spring semester. I've been there once (and in Greenwood once) so I've gotten relatively familiar with the area. If anybody in the area is looking for some extra hands on projects this spring (January-May), feel free to shoot me a PM. I work to learn stuffs, or for beer. I also have no kids, weekend jobs, or (usually) obligations so I stay free after work or weekends for Craigslist grabs, project work, whatever. My roommates up there are not car people and I'll need a fix, I'm sure.
I'll be living next to the REI and all that junk right off of 85, which I'm expecting to be both good and bad. Chime in if you're in the, area I guess?
Do you know Clemson has a car club that holds autocrosses?
Greenville is a good place. Go to ashville. Drive roads in and around pisgha.
Visit JMG, JX2 and Michelin while in town

I've heard a lot about that but haven't been able to make it to one before. That's the 3rd Saturday of the month?
I also didn't know about Clemson autocrosses, but I'll look out for them, though I dont think my truck is ready for that just yet

The 4th Saturday of the month.
I have plenty of projects that I barely have free time for. Having little kids really do make it challenging. Plus nobody here in SC wants to work on old Volvos. They are all BMW nuts mostly.

if nothing else, just hook up with them .... I used to autoX with them ... ever changing group of guys and gals, great folk ... and even if you can't run your truck, you could get involved with them ... as I recall they had a club vehicle, that most everyone drove ... don't know if it's still in existence or what you have to do to be able to be one of it's drivers .. but at least this would get you involved with a "racing'' group
here's a link to their web site

Good club to run with. The club vehicle is for Clemson students only. You can find people to let you drive their car at an autocross. Best bet is to introduce yourself on the website. Ask if you can drive someone's car.

sometimes they run out of folk to do things, it's all student run ... I haven't been on their site for a couple of yrs ... sometime in the upcoming few weeks, they should have a schedule posted, even if you aren't a member you should be able to access that
pick an event and show up ... find who seems to be in charge, introduce yourself, and see how you can help ... won't be long before they make you prez or something LOL
I'm assuming you tried to register (user name ... email .. etc) and then tried to post in the introduce yourself thread ... a requirement to be able to post in any other of the threads

They are on Christmas break. Tedebayer on here is active with them. He should be able to show you the secret handshake.
forgot about Christmas break
Aaaaand I'm here and settled in. Seriously, shoot me a pm for any weekend projects or anything you want a hand with in the area.
The plus side is I met a guy in the apartment complex who has his Miata in the "Storage" area and was working on it the other afternoon. Solid.

Cars and Coffee next Saturday morning, January 23rd, at the Michelin North American Headquarters Parking lot. It's located off of the Parkway, which is off of Pelham Rd at I-85.
^ I'll be there in the truck. Probably the last "show" the truck will attend while I own it. Looking forward to seeing how big the crows gets, and luckily I'm on Woodruff so Pelham is about a 5 minute hike.
and we have indoor karting on roper mountain road.

Going to that track with tuna kid #1 in May when he turns eight!
You're welcome to come laugh at the truck and catywampus if you want.
