eh? you get realistic damage at 40? i'm only at level 21... dang...
The MOST realistic damage is reserved for the premium cars, but yeah, they start showing more damage AND you can have race ending damage at level 40. So far, people who have reached this level haven't found a way to turn the race ending damage off.
In reply to Rufledt:
I didn't really pay much attention to what my speeds were going through the corners.
Coming off the last corner I usually let it run out to the rumble strips. I try to get it through there with the least amount of tire squeal once I get past the apex. Only time I really can get any deference in speed through there, or coming out of the s-turns for that matter, is if I get it really wrong.
I'm still trying to get some more speed through the last part of the s-turns but all I seem to do is lose time. If I could pick up a little bit through there I could carry more speed through the last corner and that would really help going down the long straight and transferring to the next lap with more speed through #1.
I think consistency is key especially at #2 I had a good four laps with about .050 difference before I dropped from 1:30.844 down to .386.
This is fun
Knocked another second off during a 15 lap session. I'm usually doing 95mph coming out of the last corner onto the straight.
mndsm on there if anyone wants to add me. Strangely, I've been addicted to the gokarts. I think they have more to offer me than any of the other cars, as I can't hamfist my way through a track and rely on the skinny pedal, I actually have to have skills. And I can't clip corners as hard as I like to- because you put a wheel on the rumble strips in that bugger, and she's going around.
just got a 130.631.... cant seem to get it twice though. i'm exiting onto the front straight at about 99mph at the end of the curb. i'm convinced the speed is to be found in the first corner area onto the bridge.
new fastest for me 130.441
My PSN ID is GTP_Duke. By the way, we try to keep some control over people with GTP tags, so if you see them, they should be racing cleanly.

Does that mean gt pro?
I'm out of town for most of this week so I'll have to try and squeeze in a couple more laps somehow.
whoo hoo! so far i'm still in the lead barely! which is good news for me because I've done another 30 laps or so and for the life of me i cant get any faster. or duplicate that lap, or get any better than 1:30.4 again... Its still that 2nd corner for me. I can't enter consistently, but thank the guy who wrote the rules he didn't make it a 10 lap average!
and i've noticed the GTP thing, what's that all about? i'm all in for clean racing, so how do i get in on anything cool like that?
My PSN is GTP_Spyhunter.
GTP is the call letters for GTPlanet members who vow to race clean, and represent the community well.
If I have a lounge open, any and all are welcome. I only expect clean, fun racing. Mistakes happen, and those are fine. Typically, I lower the power level to something sane, as I prefer handling over outright power. You will find I spend a lot of time at the 'Ring. Typically in my boosted Miata. So fun. If you request me as a friend, and get the "He has too many friends" message, send me a message saying you are from here, and I will try and whittle the friend list down to make room.
Ended the first challenge early, seems like a week might be a bit too long a time.
Event number 2 details can be found at the bottom of the first post. Gonna shorten the time frame on this one. Ends Monday morning.
this sounds great but i'm not sure i'll have time this weekend (or for the next couple weeks) because of school work. Maybe next time!
Ok i found some time. I got a used FD RX7 of some kind, ended up using 39,782 total car + mods, did 10 laps and got a 1:41.105.
In hindsight, I could've used a bit more grip, but tires are expensive and I thought the hard sports tires that came with the car would be good enough. It was all about keeping the crazy oversteer under control for this one. What i ended up with was a great drift car, easy to control in a long, smokey drift, but hard to drive without sliding.
Got a 00' camaro ss 39,862 car with mods. Went with hard slicks exhaust work and air filter.
So far I have a best of 1:36.556
I tried to find the cheapest car with the most power I could find and still be able to put slicks on it. The balance is horrible but with a little more time I could probably drop some more time off.
Tried an 00 Evo VI at 21,328. Added an ECU tune, race air filter, mid RPM turbo, and hard sports tires for a total of 39,778.
Best time I could pull off was 145.909. It handled like crap, I think drifting was the fastest way around the track. I did manage to roll it coming off the last corner right before the finish so at least there's that.
I figure I'll take official times first thing tomorrow AM that way if anyone wants to try to improve their time today they can.
Also, where is everybody? More people means more fun!
Well, I tried to go lightweight with a GRM favorite 07 Miata (NC) with a turbo, suspension, chip, filter and sport hards:
1:46.012
I guess more power was the way on this track.
I don't know, I had plenty of power and all i did was fight for grip. My hypothesis is that i could've gone faster with less power and slicks. I'm not gonna test that hypothesis, though, so I could be wrong, but to make a comparison (albeit with far too many variables to be valid) between me and nicksta, i had hard sports and he had hard slicks and was quite a bit faster.
Also, i've thus far only rolled a car on this track. And if you take suggestions, is there any future possiblitiy of a classic car on a rally course challenge? I think it would be fun
$39,801 '99 Mitsubishi FTO GPX 1:36.948
bought for $16,851
mods are:
oil change
sport air filter
chip
sport muffler
race cat
level 1 turbo
hard race tires
even with i think 254hp it feels like a momentum car and my fastest lap i nailed the left hander onto the hilly straight. i'm flat out for an awful lot of the track and steering with brake input on most turns. its a nice handling car actually.
My fastest with The CR-Z at Laguna Seca was a 1:48.748
I spent $19,800 on top of the price of the car.
Oil Change
Racing Air Filter
Sports Cat
ECU Tuning
Mid Range Turbo
Height Adjustable Suspension
Comfort Soft Tires
Sports Exhaust
should end up at 200hp even
I used a driving force pro wheel.

Sorry, I didn't stop in here to see these questions.
GTP_ is the prefix of www.gtplanet.net drivers. We keep a registry of people using the tag on the forum there. Of course, we have no control over who registers a GTP_tag on the PS network, but we do keep a list of who is 'approved' or not. To be approved, you have to promise to drive cleanly to the best of your ability for good racing. Others can lodge complaints against GTP_tagged drivers if there are incidents.
We're not the only people doing this, but we are the largest single GT online community.
You'll need to log in to post.
