Can i PLEASE put a huge wing on the back of my SBC?
@TJ... The higher torque setup is the way to go. It takes a bit of practice and tuning, but I am consistently faster using the mid range turbo with the higher torque and lower HP.
@aircooled... 47s? When you are coming up to lap me, would you mind giving my car a push so I can pass someone?
haha yeah really. I don't think it's aero, you plainly had more horsepower lol I put some more laps in to reput me back in the groove, but will have to wait for the race to see how everyone performs.
That Alfa would be awesome in here, I forgot about that.
I'm not going to have any more time to practice, and i haven't touched my cars in a week.
I fully intend on being awful tonite.
Not quite that fast, but you are not far off. I don't push on the pass, but I will give a nice honk as I go by (my form of psychological warfare).
I think one of the advantages I am having is great traction coming out of the corners, and with that long corner followed by a long straight, it adds up.
Traction in the corners? Not as much. It would be interesting to see if I could still pass F40 on the straight if he got into the first corner first (he seemed to be faster through the twisty bits).
I don't think I will have time to mess with my pimpmobile, so I might be lagging in the MX5 cup. F40 was clearly faster through the first turn... perhaps I should remove the chandeliers I have hanging from spoiler?
I just hope I don't ram into anyone or any invisibles, getting inot these from the X1 is a huge difference
aircooled, you have AWESOME traction compared to me out of the corners. I think we may battle it out again. I am faster it seems on the twisties but yeah you just cream me on the exits and straights. Your MX5 haha mines full of fur weighing it down!
I feel inadequate....
Anyone think ADDING weight in the form of ballast would help out my traction issues in my Celica?
I'm fast... nowhere except for the second half of straights where my power/weight advantage seems to finally catch hold. (4th and 5th gear)
The car just doesn't stick in corners, coming out of corners, nothing.
If i share my car after this race, would you guys be willing to drive it and tell me what you think?
Actually, I had the same idea for a fun race:
Everyone switch cars, then race! It would be mayhem. I am curious to see how someone handles the Europa.
I think it would be great fun, I just don't want to get stuck with the Mini . Not because it is underpowered, but because I hate racing FWD.
@aircooled: The Marcos is also FWD, so if there was a random selection you might get stuck with a FWD. Interesting, I hadn't really thought about it, but in this series we have FR, FF, MR, and RR cars. Are there any AWD cars that meet the requirements? That's about all we are missing.
In reply to BradLTL:
In the limited testing I did with the mid-range setup I am in the same ballpark for lap times. I get out of corners better, but slower on that long front straight. I'm sticking with the high end (at least for this track) in case I have the opportunity to pass on the straight.
There is a Jensen Interceptor in the game, but I don't know if the FF (4WD version) is in there. Even if it is it was powered by a big honking non-SBC friendly V-8.
Any old subarus? I'll have to check tonite... If there's anything AWD that's legal, i may have to make a last minute change. (Think i'm still allowed to since i haven't made a race yet?)
I've yet to see an AWD car legal for SBC class.
Switching cars would be fun. I'd like to see everybody deal with the pendulum known as the A110.
I doubt you'll find anything that is '74 or older and 2.0L or less with AWD/4WD. Not sure if a car meeting those specs existed in real life.
Yeah it'd be interesting to see others handle the drift fanboi Isuzu
doubt there's anything like that in GT5 though haha
Ok, I forgot you can take off things while adding on another lol playin with the SBC a little, I bought a midrange turbo and took some things off to get closer to the horsepower limit than before and gots some nice curves on the graph It's actually a little easier to control I think.
Aircooled, I think you may now have me in competition in the straights
We will see, won't we.
I actually did a little tuning for more speed in the corners
Be sure to honk if you go by
haha yup and I will
damn! that was my only chance to get ahead of you
I actually messed around with both low and mid turbos, the low with a few things switched runs right on the 200hp mark but the mid gives me a few less hp but with more torques and I tweaked my transmission too.
In reply to DaveEstey:
I think I need a turbo to get to the triple digits.
The most I can get out of my engine with every single upgrade is 196. I even did an engine rebuild, but gained nothing out of it. Of course, my weight is pretty close to the 500 kg minimum too.
My N/A setup worked awesome!
It's fully built, just the minus a turbo, so I thought i'd mess around with one of those discopotatos and seemed to gain some
